What's the best tradeoff between biggest/best TV I can get for $2,000 and will they be cheaper by Xmas?

Burnt987, first see where it will go, like what room in the apartment it will go into exactly. It might need to be wall mounted in a smaller room, and you may just not have the room for a deeper TV or vice versa. That will give you a better idea of what you need. It's pretty much between lcd/plasma which can be hung on a wall, and deeper sets that need stands like a dlp. There are also RP old school types, but i doubt you'll want that. Stores don't really sell them anymore.

Quite honestly, unless you're in a bright room, I'd just get a nice plasma. You'll be very happy with it. Never under 50 inches, unless it's a bedroom or something, then 42".

Every single Sony product I've owned has been superb.

I wasn't aware people had problems out of them.

I have to agree. Have had (2) sony TV's in the past they were great. I will be buying the new 70" SXRD XBR5 when it comes out in October...

Again....

I mentioned Vizio back last year....unbeatable prices and continually rated a best buy by at least 5 techno mags
