Do you think there is a certain weight you should be using if you are a certain size... i mean considering i am 245 and not obese... i feel sometimes like my weights are not high enough or rather i am not as strong as i should be. Who here believes that if you are a certain wieght that your weight you are lifting should be a certain amount. Let's take my bench at 5'9" 245 what would you consider a decent bench or does it really matter in the scheme of things?

Hmm, well that would put you in the 275 weight class if you were a powerlifter...And the current record in that class in 765 recently set by Bill Crawford.. So 600 would have to be the bare minimum :lmao:

But really, I'd say it's not that important as long as you are seeing improvements in your strength.. Progress is what keeps us going and motivated whether you just set a personal best of 225 or 725. Plus if you're into more a bodybuilding program it's not really the amount of weight you are moving that's important. It's more how you move it... To put it in vague generic terms....

Yup. I'm never concerned with weights... but in my experience, the heavier weights I can move, the bigger my muscles become.

I look at what I can do now at 290 and hate to think about what I will have to do in the future. I need more strength...more and more...

These guys are right, it is all about progress. But I will honestly say if you weigh 245 and have been lifting for a few year then I woul think you should lift the following:

Bench 275
Squat 365
Dead 405

I know a lot of people don't care about the weight they use but after a while the weight should go up. These arough estaments barring in mind you are injury free.

I am 6'4, 250. I strive to lift as much as i can in a controlled manner. While my lifts are not more than most peoples here, i lift for me, not them.

bench - 315
Squat-385
Dead - 425

If you are not getting results(or weight) that you desire think about changing up your routine. there is plenty of info here to try the 5x5 or DC's method.
