What local store sells chalk - rather than buying online

I was deadlifting today and anything close to and over 500 slips out of my hand I lift in a commercial GYM , but it is in the basement of a bulding and its really hot and humid down there, besides the fact that the bars are old as shit and the knurling is practically non existent.

Where do I buy lifting chalk , in what local stores? I live in New York, I know I can order online but why have to wait 2 weeks for delivery of chalk, there must be a store where I can buy some.
Any ideas??

Thanks Powfit, but still there has to be a store that sells it, even its a hardware store its only magnesium carbonate after all.

I mean this item must exist over the counter, I would haet to see myself paying for shipping on a stupid thing like chalk.

most gyms sell it or will stock it if you ask them. Local supplement shops do as well. $24 for a case of it here in Ohio, $3 a brick

I don't know what part of NY you're in, but there was a weightlifting equipment store in Westbury LI. On Old Country Road somewhere near Newbridge Rd ( around 106/107 ).
Sorry I couldn't give exact info but I buy my chalk online now, and the last time I was at the store I bought a pound, it lasted years, so it's been awhile.

Ia ctually located chalk at home depot, its colored chalk for a chalk liner, but it is the same thing Magnesium Carbonate, only thing is its red, or blue, ohh how pretty ...just playing thanks.

The only store dealing with bodybuilding on Old Country Road that I sww is called Muscel Mag I'll check it out.

MuscleMag sucks. They promote themselves as a hardcore lifting store, ie: weights and dumbells in the window, but go inside and you'll find it's more of a Ballys, "what to wear at the gym" store. Their wraps are crap, not an Inzer product in the store. But they may have chalk I didn't ask.
Home Depot - colored chalk! I gotta get me some.
The place I was talking about was much further east on Old Country Road.

I was wondering what that place MuscleMag was all about, it did look a bit too pretty int he front window. I mean chalk is chalk if you know your chemistry, and home depot has chalk but obviously they dont intend you to use it for powerlifting its for marking straight lines with a chalk snap.

I wish I knew the other store you were talking about maybe I'll take a drive down Old Country one day and look for it, shit by now I could have had the chalk shipped to me lol.

Anyway just curious what GYM you work out in and what part of LI you live. I am from Queens.
