I have not seen the UNC study but I am familiar with the statistics about the higher likelihood of a black to be given a death sentence.

I wish the study had included economic makeup of those who were given the death penaly vs. those who were not. Sometimes things that are split along race lines are also split along economic lines....which may in fact be the root cause.

Up here in Seattle we (last week ) had a a shooting incedent , the police , shot and killed a black man ....the man was pulled over in his car , for a traffic infraction, as they asked the man to get out of his car , they opened the door, and the driver took off....dragging one of the police officers with him! his partner opened fire shooting the driver 5-6 times ...killing him.......the cop , was in the hospital for over a week , due to the injuried he sustained. The black community was screamming to beat the band ,,,,claiming that they should have shot him in the leg!
