what do you do when you're not sore the next day?

what do you do when you work your legs say, friday and expect them to be sore till about wednesday, but when you wake up saturday you're not sore?

do you work again say, monday and mess up your weeks routine?

I mean other than changing your program around...

I dont consider muscle soreness after a workout to be an effective gauge for intensity or growth. There are times when i dont even feel sore after a hard workout.

Honestly, i dont understand why you wanna stay sore for so long? It affects the rest of my workout days. Try doing deads with sore legs, it aint no fun.

I guess being sore gives one a mental 'pump', but it can also mean overtraining or poor recovery ability if you remain sore for too long.

I like my body to be free of soreness before my next workout.

If i were you, i'll still stick to the original routine and see if i can increase the poundages/rep each wk out.

dunno, I guess it's my favoreite thing to be sore for a week :)

I triset

leg ext to near failure (or failure)
leg press to even closer to failure (or complete failure)
squats (as many as i can possibly do)

then compound set

leg curls to near failure (or failure)
straight leg DL's to failure

I just say failure for lack of a better word, because I dont' think i really ( or most others for that matter) have what it takes mentally to go to complete failure, anyone who can do that is the s**t IMHO.....but yeah I ain't overtraining I don't think cuz i'm going up in numbers :) latez and thx for the replies!

The day after isn't the best gauge of a workout. If you are going to use soreness as a gauge, two days after would be better.

I usually don't feel sore until the next afternoon - then I start feeling sore - but for legs - sometimes I'm sore for a couple of days - can barely walk - my thighs and butt- from just squats and lunges.
