Isnt up and to the right... accessing the creative center of the brain

I thought it was right too. Can be the opposite for some left-handers though.

Other signs are excessive touching of the face, palms facing down instead of up. But remember that just because someone touches their face, it doesnt mean they're lying.

Not sure about the pupils dilating, anyone care to explain that.

I'm also interested where you all learnt about how moving the eyes accesses different areas of the brain.

When they apologoze with a smile and their head held high...they are lying.

Some people are too good of a liar...or they are so used to lying that they have no remorse left...selfish people stink.

Pupils dilating is usually the sign of a strong emotion.........like when you see a hot woman or somebody pisses you off.

Touching of the face is generally a distraction. It could be that the person is trying to hide something or it could just be that they are shy.

Palms up hand gestures is a sign that somebody is trying to be totally open.......however it is also submissive. So, it is perfectly normal for an assertive person being honest to use many palm down positions.

This question is way to complex to even begin to answer here. The detective bureau teaches an entire course (2 weeks) on this usually with the Kinesic method.

No one or two factors will tell if you are lying or not. It’s a complex process and still hinges on gut feeling. While any of the above can hint to a lie, it’s much more to determine if the person is lying.

Its always going to be easier to lie unnoticed than to tell if somebody is lying.

Its quite simple to convince yourself of your story, so that you can tell it like a truth.

Cool beans guys!!

The forehead frowning (forehead creases) I saw on TLC. There was a study conducted to see which people scored the highest in catching liars, and secret service agents came out on top (I think). The whole forehead frowning/creases is a tough one to catch and secret service agents are highly trained to pick up on that one.

I'm also positive that it is DOWN and to the left as well.

No or little direct eye contact is a classic sign of deception/ A person who is lying to you will do everything to avoid making eye contact. Unconscioulsy they feel guilty, they don't want to face you. IN stead they will glance down or their eyes may dart from side to side. Conversely, when we tell the truth or we're offended by a false accusation, we tend to give our full focus and have fixed concentrations. We lock eyes with our accuser as if to say, "your not getting away until we get to the bottom of this!"

The hands and arms are excellent indicatior of deceit because they are used to gesture with and are more easliyvisable than our feet and legs. But hands, arms, legs and feet are things to watch. When someone is lying or keeping something in, they tend to be less expressive with their hands or arms. They may keep them in their lap if sitting, or at their sides if standing. Hands may be in pickets or clenched. fingers may be folded into the hands, full extention of the fingers is usually a gesture of openness. Also, if you ask someone a question and their hands are clenched or go palm down this is a sign of defensiveness and withdraw. When sitting they may cross their arms and legs. When we feel uncomfortable we close up and take up less physical space. When making movements and gestures they seem stiff and almost mechanical, there is no fludity in the movements.

Touching the face or holding a hand in the face is a good sign as it acts as a screen, an unconscious attempt to hide their words. Touching the nose is also considered to be a sign of deception, as well as scratching behind or on the side of the ear or rubbing the eyes. This should not be confused with posture associated with deep thought, which usually involves concentration and attention.

Studdering or mispronunciations of words. Using the words "um", "er," and "ah" allows someone to pause for thought with out seeming like they are trying to lie.

For right-handed people visual memories are accessed by the eyes going up and to he left. For left-handed perple, its the reverse: they eyes go up and to the right. When a right-handed person seeks to create an image or fact, their eyes go up and to the right and the reverse for left-handed people: up and to the left.

I think that should keep ya busy for a while. If you want more info PM me. LOL

do a search on NLP and facial patterns. i believe its up and the left.

I think that if would be a glance to the left if the person were remembering a story that they had already practiced to cover up a lie. But if it's more an 'on the spot' lie, i think it would be towards the right as the person would have to visually crate the story in their mind.

Also it might be a glance down if the person FEELS guilt, otherwise if they're trying to visualise the story it could be up.

All a bit complicated and impossible to say "a person would do this when lying", i think it's about watching the person to see their normal patterns and then checking for any abnormal patterns to suggest they're lying.

For you Americans who wouldn't have heard of him, you should do a search on the psychological illusionist 'Derren Brown'. The guy's amazing.

In a few weeks he's playing Russian Roulette with a member of the public. (Putting a gun to his head live on UK tv and 'reading the mind' of a member of the public so that he doesn't die when the trigger's pulled.)
