weight flucuations?

fri 3/8 185 lbs
mon 3/11 189 lbs.
tues 3/12 184 lbs.
thurs 3/15 189lbs.

I do a 4 day split, mon tues thurs fri. Saturday I ate normal and Sunday I gorged myself and took it easy. Besides ice cream I keep only healthy food in the house, so my gorging was mostly cashews oatmeal and I got my protein as well.

So I gained 4 pounds over the weekend, lost 5 pounds between monday and tuesday, took wed off but ate well, and gained 5 pounds. I used multiple scales, and weighed myself multiple times (I weigh in before my workout in my workout clothes). I always gain my weight over the weekend after taking two days to rest, but I've never swung by this much.

Is this normal? I'm I focusing too much on day to day wieght? Is it a symptom of doing something wrong? I'm trying to bulk, so I'm happy to gain the weight, but I don't know what I weigh. Do I weigh 185 or 189? 187?

Thanks for your help.

Don't weigh yourself daily. Water weight fluctuation alone can account for up to 10 pounds day to day. Weekly or bi weekly would give you a better gauge of progress.

Yes it is normal. The fluctuations are being caused by water retention, and water loss. Try not to weigh yourself everyday...it will drive you
