Weighing meats

Okay, so I've been told elsewhere to weigh my meats raw. Previously, I'd always been told to weigh it cooked. Which is it? Do you weigh it cooked or raw?

I weigh them cooked. Meats lose a bunch of weight throughout the cooking process. My 14 oz steak was down to around 11 oz when I was done cooking it last week.

You can do either, but the nutritional value will vary depending on which you use. When you look up the values for nutrition just make sure you are doing so based on the method you want ("grilled chicken" v. "raw chicken").

Thanks, guys. I thought that was the case, but when an 'expert' tells you something, it's always good to check it out.

Yup. I need a specific amount in my diet each meal, I weigh it uncooked and aim a little over my number, it loses a good few ounces the way I cook it
