Weighing food

Anyone knows if you are suppose to weigh food raw or cooked? For example, 4oz chicken breast is 23 grams of protein. Is that 4oz cooked or raw? I always thought it was raw but just making sure

Hi,
All food regardless loses or displaces its macronutrients during the cooking process this is mainly down to the heat pushed through it and also through seepage of fluids. I find it is by far best to err on the side of caution and use the cooked weight of meats as the base weight for proteins and the like, whereas grains and similar swell during the process so use the uncooked weigh. Just my experience and opinion.
