Was it the R-ALA???

I got my r-ala in and was anxious to take it...I had just finished 5 days of pain meds everything from percosett to codeine to darvoset which I think are hard on the stomach. I took the 200 mg of the ala with steak, small new red potato, a large garden fresh tomatoe and a glass of chrystal light lemonade...plenty of acid in the meal not to mention the ALA. Within 30 minutes I felt like my stomach was on fire, that was day before yesterday and it still hurts. It is also sore when I press on it from the outside. My question - is my stomach really messed up or will it be okay in a few if I stick to bland non acid food and how long til I can try the ALA again???

Oooh, that sounds nasty :( Sorry you're hurting.

I don't know about the other stuff, but somebody was on here recently saying they got a bad stomach ache from ALA - they took it empty stomach a while before food. It IS an acid. I'll second spatts - hold off til the other meds have cleared, then try again, always with food.

WOW! That sucks, and its weird? I have NEVER and I mean NEVER got any heartburn from r-ala. However, I do get it from ALA. Hmmm, thats intresting, maybe utler will chime in.

Hang in there girl, we will get to the bottom of this. Take care of yourself and maybe talk to the doc. If it is lasting that long, you should really get some quality medical advice. If it still there tomorrow, check into it.

Kronk, I THINK what has happened is that my stomach was irritated from all the pain meds, I was taking a bunch of them for several days. What I am questioning is if this is going to get better on its own. The ALA seemed to be the thing that really set it off but I have also need pain meds at night so that could be keeping the problem going. The doctor that gave me the pain meds is two hours away but I have to see him again on Monday (get to have melanoma removed from my shoulder this time)

PEPTO BISMOL to coat your stomach. Drink it like it is going out of style. Should help with the discomfort you are experiencing and you can't OD on it. Believe me - I KNOW.

You didn't tell me about WHY you were taking the pain meds you fucking dork! You let me go on and on about my stupid shit and you don't tell me dick. REAL NICE.

Liked the pic by the way.... He looks like a REAL BAD BOY! :D

is it possible for r-ALA to cause skin problems?

it is unlikely.. however, depending on dosage it can lead to an increased need for water..

note- it "restores" vitamin C and other antioxidents.. so if taking those in relatively large amounts.. you should increase water intake..

as relates to question: dehydration is a factor in skin problems..
