i recently came across mike mentzer's books and ideas on H.I.T. training. has anyone tried it? if so, what were the results like?

Don't even think about it. Mentzer, on a few fundamental points, was simply wrong. I can get more into it if you want, but suffice to say that if you follow Heavy Duty or whatever his program is, you will not make fast gains. I'm not even sure whether or not you'll make any.

I did Mentzer's for about 3 months ...I initially had to drop the weight i use considerably...as your pace is 4 seconds up and 4 seconds down.....but I did get stronger...at least at that pace ...when i finally switched back to a more normal routine ...only my leg strength translated across to the regular rep speed....

Right now i am doing Doggcrapp s routine ...see the sticky at top of the page....and i feel it is the best routine i have ever done ...and I have tried them all over the last 24 years....my bench has gone up 15 LBS in 3 weeks...hack squat went from 5 plates per side for 8 to 5 plates per side for 16 ...in 4 leg workouts!.....I can not emphsise enough ....You need to try this routine!
