Very sore from pull-ups

Coldshot

Hey guys,

I've been doing my pull-ups for a while now and i noticed that my chest and tris get hammered pretty bad after the workout too. Am i suppose to feel this way?

man pull-ups are one of the ultimate best exercises for your upper body. Not real sure about chest/tris but I know that your bis and back should be afeelin it afterwards. when I used to do back day after chest day...my chest would feel a major stretch when doing pullups. I just hang from my pullup bar now to stretch my chest but that's beside the point.

pullups are for bis/back. Throw some weight on your chest...if you're new to pullups...use a 25 and do 5 of em for a few sets. The next day your back will feel lovely

My upper lats are pretty much restricting my arm movements. Its aching like hell. But i'm not sure as to why im feeling it so much in the chest too.

Are you "dropping?" What I mean by this is: are you controling the negative phase of the movement or do you just drop down quickly? If you don't control both parts of the movement (concentric and eccentric) you yank your tri's when you fall back down too quickly and then have to stop yourself at the bottom.

You're also missing a major portion of the development if you are doing this. The negative phase of pullups is a big part of the back building.

Pullups are the king of back development. Nothing else has ever come close to working as well for me.

I think there will be some degree of soreness since you are stretching these areas. A little bit of soreness is natural Be sure to control your speed coming down. Do not drop down violently into the bottom position.

Sometimes I feel a little tension in my pecs too.....
But like everybody else has already said, its most likely a stretching thing.... I had absolutely 0 lats before doing wide grip chins..... Now they are starting to rear their ugly face!
