Using a Hotel-style gym this week...

We're in Vail, CO for the week, and I'm going to work out in the gym at my in-laws' condo... I was imagining a cheap rubber band machine and beat-up treadmill, but to my surprise, it's a state-of-the-art gym with 10 new Life Fitness selectorized machines, and hex db's to 120 lbs! Only thing missing is free weights, but at least there is a cable crossover and a chest press to 320 lbs.

Just curious on this chiest press: it changes grip angle and width as you extend. Is this doing something better than regular benching? It feels like the resistance is more even all the way through the motion, than with a bar. I like it!

Followup: I have to say that I'm impressed! I've never done an all-machine workout, and I feel like I got more out of it than free weights. Particularly with the Life Fitness chest press. The way it works, your grip angle changes as you lift, so it gets you a good burn after the 3rd or 4th set! It takes me about 6 sets of reps-to-failure to get that burn in the pecs on free bench bar or DB presses. Also, my tris didn't crap out on me before pecs.

Anyway, for other stubborn Irish bros like me, who have been lifting for years and downing machines, take it from me; it's worth a try! I'm going to get one of those for my gym (home) asap, and retire my pec deck and smith rack.
