i used to absolutely love squating till i thought i was gonna be sick but just lately ive started becoming so hard to breath while squating. my legs are fine but i cant breath enough to get my best out of the set. also i get so hot and sweaty which i never used to.

anyone offer an explaination? i am a little fatter than i used to be although still only abou12-14%, and i also gave up smoking about 6 months ago! it doesnt make sense!

dave.

Now that I no longer do cardio, squats always kick my ass like I'd just done sprints. Squats are taxing your cns, and I think should make breathing difficult beyond almost any other lift.

As I understand it, it takes a while for your body to actually begin to reject all of the crap accumulated by smoking. 6 months maybe?? Have you already gone through the stage of hackin up bowls of black shit?

I don't know about the hot and sweaty thing, but the breathing problem is, for me at least, a big sign that I'm over training. It was a problem for me all last week, in fact. I'm taking this week off because of it.
I always show signs of over training about a week before the breathing problem starts.
