Unecessary ordeal..

AS we all know doing crunches/sit ups are usless unless the fat layers are dealt with first, thru diet and cardio.

There are a few young trainers at my gym and not all of them know too much about training.

There is a 20-22 young trainer, working with a 50 year old guy extremely overweight -just to be politically correct I will say size plus- and making him doing crunches by using that stupid abs machine( ab doer I guess is called).

Poor guy was puffing ,hissing and laboring through this futile ordeal for aprox. 10-15 min..

What on earth is he thinking( the trainer)?

This guy's belly was huge and there was no need to be subject to this unecessary and moronic exercise as he can do thousands of crunches in vain..

Do you agree that some trainers dont know their ass from a hole in the ground? Did you see anything stupid or useless in your gym in terms of training ?

Of course, on the other hand, there are some knowledgeable trainers who really know their job..

I have only seen one trainer who has my respect and he maintains the body I am trying to build and he does it with minimum drug use. Most PTs I've seen are in worse shape then the Trainees.

Often you will find trainers work their clients as the clients expect/want to be worked, in order to keep them coming back and paying up. This doesn't necessarily reflect on the trainer's knowledge, but often their physqiue does...

Just because your abs are covered by fat, doesn't mean you shouldn't work them out. Should fat guys not bench cause they have fat covering their chest too? Strong ab muscles are important, and you shouldn't neglect them just cause you can't see them.

And, if eventually he does lose the fat, he'll have good abs waiting for him already.

Thats a pathetic BS..

Before you post anything, you should read the thread carefully ..

If someone is 350-400 lb, with a humongous belly, and does ab roller in your feeble mind, he/she will develop strong abs? Maybe even a 6 pack? Or 8 pack? One( or maybe you) can do umpteen abs and see no frigging results .

Using an analogy , is like you first try to run before you learn how to walk first!

Your reasoning( you got it backwards) really baffles me, if you think that he really needs to work his abs to get them stronger as your statement is laughable at best and pathetic at worst...
Bench press is another story my friend..

My point was that he should do cardio and diet before any abs workout as he will get burn out and achieve nothing but futile sweat..

BTW, my abs are in perfect shape , so you shouldn't reffer/dirrect your post to me>

wtf?? just because you're fat doesn't mean that you don't have ab muscles! being able to see them is another story, but *everyone* should include abs in their workout routine regardless of their current aesthetic state...

I have pretty low bodyfat, but if I don't flex, I don't have visible abs, and I don't want them. I train for strength, not to be a Men's Fitness model. You can't see my abs, but I train the shit out of them and they're strong as fuck. Function versus vanity. To each his own

Hey, hypocrite! First off, I don't think someone who lectures someone else about giving grammar lessons should give someone else grammar lessons. The dude said,
"Just because your abs are covered by fat, doesn't mean you shouldn't work them out. Should fat guys not bench cause they have fat covering their chest too? Strong ab muscles are important, and you shouldn't neglect them just cause you can't see them. "

Though incorrect, using "you" instead of "one" is a commonly practiced and generally accepted method of speaking in general. Though it is a specific pronoun, in this case it's being used as a general, non-specific pronoun. Don't be a fucking hypocrite, you fuck!
Secondly, your post "is laughable at best and pathetic at worst" What kind of dumbfuck would advise someone not to do abs. Hell, if he is a giantly fat piece of shit, then he should spend doubly as much time on abs so that his low back can be relieved of a little strain. You are correct that he shouldn't be doing the ab roller(no one should) to strengthen his abs, but he should be doing something. My choice would be cable crunches, but that's just me.

Strengthening the abdomen and core region could do wonders for overweight people...could help out a lot with back problems and with stability on other exercises.

If the trainer is telling the trainee that doing these crunches is gonna give him a 6 pack...that is where it becomes wrong.

Just to make sure that we all are on the same page, I will reiterate and emphasize that in my original post I was reffering to the use of an ab roller as an abs exercise. As I said in my previous posts I do not see adequate for an huge, out of shape guy , to sweat his ass off by using an ab roller for 15 minutes.

Before one start to jump on me , one should peruse the original post carefully!

There are different forms of exercises which could hit the abs in a better and an efficient way , i.e., squats,deadlift-even if they hit the abs indirectly- and many direct exercises besides the lame ab roller.

Grizly boy- Please refrain from using pornographic language,i.e,- Don't be a fucking hypocrite, you fuck! - as I do not find being an appropriate way to make your point. An intelligent person does not usually resort to foul language in order to express his/her views.

Of course I could call you a dumb fuck or a schmuck ,but I don't think would do any good to either of us.

However , just to even up the score let me tell you that you are justa moron who struggles to be part of an elitism group.

I guess you didn't like my reply when you were attacking someone's grammar who just happened to be from a foreign country where English was not his primary language. For reference see my post"Pissed and disgusted".

ANyway, my apologies to all the readers for digression from the main topic!

Pornorgraphic language? Jesus Christ! If I had said something about sloppy, wet, tasty pussies, then it would have been "pornographic language." "Fuck" is the most useful word in the entire language and rarely has anything to do with sex when it is used.

Secondly, I would bet that that kid was a native English speaker. There's no way you can end up sounding like MissyD without being a native speaker or a person who reads "Teen Magazine" on a regular basis. He might live in a different country, but he has a plenty fine understanding of the language. The reason I got all over his ass is because he's a (ok, this is my assumption, but I'll eat a big, fat cock if I'm wrong) skinny, 160lb, 17 year old kid who's juiced and doesn't know shit about training or writing an intelligible sentence.

By the way, it's an "elitist" group not an "elitsim" group, you dumb fuck!

terranoble and grizzly, youre starting to piss me off, as well as others probably. ive read paragraphs of shit between you too and its all crap. christ, b fold gave a good explanation in like 2 sentences. stop arguing like a couple of children.

Yes massuh! I make sho I do jus' like you say, gettnlarger. It's simple. I don't like him and he doesn't like me. We're arguing. We can do that if we choose. Now take your little nose and stick it in someone else's business. Preferably your own fucking business.

Have your ever heard of free speech? 1st amendment? Sounds familiar?

Anyway, if you have anything to say related with the original topic go ahead and spit it out; if not you can follow Grizzly's directions! Stop asking for others' help like a crying baby, -i.e.,christ, b fold gave a good explanation - and express yours own POV!
