Undercover cops arrested two underage drinkers from the bar last night.

No big drama or anything, but last night they hit just about every bar in the area. We know all of them, and knew that they were in there working. So my bouncing compadre and I stood there at the door shooting the shit with them for awhile, and then they went over and carded a guy and girl that were drinking at a table. They had ID's on them and we had carded the guy (he looked like your mid-size generic frat boy). The girl comes in so often that I carded her the first few times she came in a long time ago and have waved her in ever since. So the cops took them outside around the corner and slapped the cuffs on them. The girl (who is quite goodlooking, for the record) started crying once she heard those cuffs ratcheting up around her wrists. Probably the first time she's ever been arrested. LOL.

The worst that could happen to the bar is that the owner will be fined $1000. That may not even happen though. At least the cops said that the ID's they had were actually really good likenesses of the two kids, and that our place had a good reputation for staying out of trouble and not having many disturbances.

Sucks that it happened, but you can't catch 'em all. I was working at a real shitty club a year and a half ago and 5-0 rolled in and busted some underage. I wasn't on the door and was terribly understaffed, but I was the lead man and the owner was/is a sleazy bastard. He fired me, only to re-hire me three weeks later when he realized he'd made a mistake. I quit for good a few weeks later.

But this is no huge blow to us. I bet it ruined that couple's night though. Better them than me. :D

Your place is lucky that the cops weren't out to get the bar. By me two girls got the same thing that happened in your story above, but the cops told them that if they sign something saying the bar allowed them in while underage they would let them go. Well like anyone would do they signed. The bartenders all had to split the fine.

It sucks but thats what the people at the door are suppose to do. If one gets threw and fucks you over thats tough luck for the bar.

Two girls in my class went to some bar two weekends ago and two undercover cops caught the both of them in the bar using fake IDs. They were at the bar right about to get their IDs checked and the cops asked to see the IDs. They were clearly fake and they got smacked with a huge ticket and a court date. Thankfully they weren't served anything just yet, so nothing happened too the bar.

Here usually it's a 250$ fine for both the bar (each offender) and the offenders/kids, plus another 1000$ for the bar alone. So let's say they bust 5 kids inside that's a 2250$ fine. Nice ?

I am glad that the local government in your area has its priorities straight

Pretty stupid if you ask me. An "underage" drinker is just as likely to get wasted and kill someone in a car as a grown man. I drove better at 18 years-old than most adults do today. That fact, coupled with my bodyweight and intellectual capacity, is enough to clalim that I could drive after 1 or 2 drinks better than an adult could when I was 18.

Drinking laws should be based on the subject's ability to consume alcohol responsibly rather than his or her age, if anything. Serving a 40 year-old thin woman a martini and refusing to give an 18 year-old fatass a beer is fucking RIDICULOUS.

So glad I'm 21 now and don't have to deal with that bullshit.

Well it should 18 yr old like here. I could never understand the logic behind 21 yr old.

Sign at our door..."You fake it....We take it... "

They still get by with good fakes though....This sorta thing happens all the time my man.

Something that pisses me off is that if you get caught DUI, PI, etc. they are more lenient IF YOU ARE UNDERAGE. I mean wtf? Underage means you weren't even suppose to have alcohol in the first place. I've never figured that one out. Fuckin' law makers!

Right. You're old enough to get sent off to Iraq to die in some stupid fucking war, but you're not old enough to come back home and celebrate the fact that you didn't get blown the fuck up with a drink.

Freedom? Amazing how many of the "less free" nations have more civil liberties than the US.

After all this has been said by numerous posters, isn't it disgusting to find how alcohol is still legal with no restrictions other than age? Yet pot, AAS, etc. are totally and completely against the laws. I know I'm beating a dead horse, but as long as the tobacco and alcohol companies pay BILLIONS of dollars in FEDERAL TAXES to the U.S. Government, politicians will never pass any laws restricting, let alone banning their use. C'mon, shouldn't there at least be some restrictions to purchasing these products, say a store owner is not allowed to sell cigarettes to an obviously pregnant woman?

afaik it's the blood alcohol volume they test over here - so, you are correct, a short skinny woman could have a much higher blood alcohol volume on one drink than a guy like you.

here's a drink driving test I've heard of - get a 12 inch ruler. A ruler I said. ok. One person holds the top. You hold your fingers just below the bottom. the person holding the ruler lets go, and if you can catch it in the first 4 inches, you're ok. Otherwise, get a cab. Some bars also have reaction timing machines for the same purpose, to see if you are ok to drive.

I don't get this damn obsession with underage drinking folks have in the US though. I mean, Bush's daughter gets sentenced to "counselling" for getting drunk at 20. Holy shit, it's fucking NORMAL to get hammered in a bar at age 20. Everyone is at it over here from age 16 or so. or even earlier.

Probably the greatest irony touted by both democrats and republicans. Both parties just trying to appease parents and the religious people. It is completely illogical.

If the guy was over 18, he should be able to drink anyway. this country laws are so stupid when it come magna prohibita laws. I mean that same kid could be fixing to go fight a bunch towel heads with aks and he can't but all those generals and politicians have drinks while they are discussing war plans that could put that kids life on the line.

Listen I am not anti war. I think we should waste suddam he is either posessed by the devil or just plain nuts. But I don't think it is right to make someone fight for this country but that same person is not allowed to drink in it.

THAT IS WRONG PERIOD!

cops are hitting just about every club in NYC right about now just trying to be dicks for what reason i dont know. They are giving parking tickets to anyone that is remotely parked illegally around the large places, standing outside or parking outside smaller ones trying to intimidate people from going to those places...it sucks but this is what the mayor has decided to do with the citys money...

so if your doing anything in ny, watch ur ass, and watch who your doing it with...

at least by you they are NOT trying to go after the bar- aroudn here a few places just recently got shut down because of underage drinking (as well as some other things)
