Hi,

I've long been a fan of Ultima Replenisher. It has exactly what you need during your cardio workout - and none of what you don't need.

The competitor products are all loaded with sugar - and injesting that sugar while you are doing your cardio workout inhibits your heart rate by 5-7 beats per minute. That can make a big difference.

Here is some info from their website:

Ultima Replenisher is a re-hydration sports drink which contains no sugars, artificial sweeteners or other artificial ingredients and contains only 35 to 40 calories per 20 ounce serving. The Ultima Replenisher formula, consisting of 30 essential minerals, electrolytes, vitamins, antioxidants, and complex carbohydrates, was designed and tested to optimize: 1) the rapid absorption of fluids and nutrients, 2) the supply of sustainable energy, and 3) recovery from exertion. Our product is designed to appeal to the health conscious consumer and committed athlete at all levels of sport.

They are the official sports drink of many of the most well known and competitive races - including the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC.

The product is less expensive than competitors and can be delivered to your door via subscription with free shipping.

Word!
An ideal blend of electrolytes, carbs and essential nutrients - I highly recommend!

Pretty good. It is sweetened with maltodextrose and stevia leaf.

But you know, as long as it doesn't induce a gag reflex, taste is irrelevant to nutritional value.

Still, I think it tastes great.

I use it before, during, after. I keep a seperate bottle for after and have added dextrose to that.

Sounds like a good product but a little fructose or dextrose goes a long way for endurance athletes. Yes, the fat burning wil be blunted (GOD FORBID) by introducing sugars while doing cardio but in the bigger picture, you'l be able to exercise longer and catabolize less muscle so it's a wash IMO.

A teaspoon or two of fructose and/or dextrose added to the above named drinks would be a nice addition IMO.

***My comments are based on actual endurance training (running, biking, etc) NOT simple gym-cardio!

When I am feeling really tired during a long run, a Coke gives me the kick I need to finish the run. I guess all that sugar and caffeine goes into your blood really quickly. Again, I would only recommend it towards the end of the run for that extra kick to help you finish it.

You can order sampler packs from their website. I ordered the 2 week assorted sample package for 19.95 or so.
