Two idiot American soldiers went into the Iraqi zoo after closing drinking beer.

One of the morons put some food under the cage of a RARE bengal Tiger and the tiger injured the dumbass soldier.

So, his focking moron of a buddy KILLS the tiger!!

I hope those guys step on a few landmines on their patrols.

who cares, it's a wild man killing animal, not like it had a good life locked up in a cage it's whole life anyways. the soldeir will get his, probably get booted out of the military, go home, and live the rest of his life in a trailer humping some fat slob.

Understand that I could take my kids to the zoo and show them some wild cat so they can say wooo ahhh, and in reality the fucker would rip us all to pieces if it was in the wild? I admit, I used to get a kick out of watching the fuckers on animal planet while I was stoned out of my mind back in the day, and it doesn’t mean what the soldier did was right, but honestly, who cares? The solder will get his.

they should make a Beer commercial from that, guy shoots tiger to save his friend from wild tiger, then at the end it shows the guy grab the beer out of his dead buddies hands…..MILLER TIME!!! ahahahha

Agreed. yes the soldier was dumb for toying with the tiger, but if it started attacking my bro and my only option was to shoot the tiger or watch my friend be torn to shreds before my eyes, I would choose to shoot the tiger.

I’m sure the tiger out weighed both of them put together and even adding another 100 to 200 pounds and sharp ass claws, sounds pretty fair to me :D

That changes things entirely. IF I find out that 2thick has a beard (therefore not bald faced) then I actually would believe him if he said he wouldnt help his friend out.

they were obviously trying to help the tiger in the beginning, I'm sure there were no zoo keepers around to feed the tiger for god knows how long. Tiger goes crazy and trys to eat the hand that feeds him, case closed.

Caged animals can be very defensive towards people they are not familiar with. It was only doing what it thought it needed to do to protect itself from two loud drunk unfamiliar people. I wish that tiger had taken off more than just a finger.
 
The man was obviously a (possibly drunk) fool. No one can blame that animal for doing what it did. Of course, we can certainly blame the men for being where they should not be and doing what they should not do.

I love animals in general, and tigers in particular. I don't wish death on these soldiers, but I lose a great deal of respect for them and hope they are punished (beyond the injuries sustained) for this ridiculous behavior.

If my friend's life were in danger, I would kill the tiger also, and I wouldn't blame the soldier for shooting in such a situation (even if he's an idiot for getting into the situation at all). However, the article doesn't provide enough detail for a clear understanding. All it says is that one man was injured, and that another man shot the tiger afterwards. It does not say that the tiger was shot to save a man's life or limb. So, it's entirely possible that this beautiful animal was shot primarily for retribution. That, I find, is indefensible, but not surprising.
 
Ok...the finger was already gone...there was no further threat. Therefore, the shooting was ill-concieved revenge. They should let the Iraqis punish the soldier. Under Islamic law, the probable punishment would probably be to throw him unarmed into a cage with another tiger. Perfectly fitting punishment. Oh, and his buddy who started the whole mess by feeding the tiger should have to go in too.
 
He should be court martialed and put in the damn stockade at Leavenworth.

no, i love big cats and watching them eat. the only one i would have shot was the soldier if i saw him getting the better of the two.

WHY??? your boy would only do something stupid with his arm again later. 10 to 1 he either sticks it in the french fry grease at mcDonalds or in a large piece of rotating equipment.
 
One Bengal tiger is worth more than 1000 Stupid drunk american soldiers trespassing where they have no business, and then again trespassing where they have no business.

From what I heard, some idiot was taunting the tiger that used to belong to Saddam's son Uday. The tiger bit the guys hand off, and some other soldiers killed it. Its ust another example why we are the bad guys over there. Bring our drunk boys home!
 
They sound like they were trying to help the tiger by giving it food. They were obviously intoxicated also. Had a good idea trying to give it food....not a good idea using his hand...
I dont think the man should die for it. being shot or other wise...you make it sound like they were just walking down the street being evil and shooting things for the hell of it. They were relaxing..soemthing they probably dont get to do much over there....and that happens. Yes i would have shot the tiger too if it was ripping my friends arm off. NO hesitation whatsoever GOOOOOO US TROOPS get ur job done and git back home

They arent confused, they just have blinders on. They see only what fits their preconcieved notions, after all, thousands of hours of television, public education combined with a steady diet of sugar, starch and lard do take their toll on the minds ability to think.

I was under the impression that the attack was in progress when the animal was shot. The soldier who fired should be discharged dishonorably.

Lots of people would place a higher value on a rare tiger than a person who breaks in and shoots the tiger who was minding his own business until some idiot stuck his hand into his cage.

Drunken marauders have little value in my book.
 
How is this any worse than the thousands of animals that get killed uneccasarily everyday to feed and clothe fat, corporate westerners?
 
I am just saying that the guys lives mean more than a stinkin tiger. If they shot him for the heck of it, then they should be discharged.....not freakin killed. geez what if it was ur son or whatever...and yes i have a brain too. grrrrrrrrrrrr...........i think

1. Many of those animals live happy contented lives (although I do have a few issues with em) - a great example is bull beef in Germany.
2. They are slaughtered in a totally painless manner using the humane killer - the kosher and Hal-Al methods are barbaric to me.
3. Bengali tigers are an endangered species.
4. You cannot compare the beauty of such an animal to that of a cow (although I knew plenty of farmers who would dispute that).
