trying to bench 405

duritz

Banned
i bench 365 right now at 6'2 205lbs. I wanna bench 405 in like 6 months. How do i go about doing it?? what type of training and diet should i do??

If you are solely going for strength gains on your bench, then you need to see were your weak points are... are you getting stuck at the bottom or top??? are you tris the weak link or your pecs or maybe even your shoulders.... when you find what is hindering you then work on that part a little more than the others... if it is justa general lack of strength I would start to lift like P'liftiners, not train to failure and work on explosive speed...

6 months is plenty of time to make that jump. I got 405 about 3 months after I struggled with 365 for 1. When I hit 365 I started doing what Lord Suston said and got the 405 cleaner than the 365. It felt good to see 4 plates on there:)

BTW, at 205, a 365 bench is pretty fucking good bro.

Just curious, I can see how you could tell if it was your tri's, lats or even chest that was weak, but how might one know if it was his/her shoulders that were the weak spot in his/her bench?

Thanks,
Joker

do incline and at the bottom if you have a hard time controling the weight then it is your shoulders and on flat bench you can tell if you try to lift aqnd your shoulders move before the weight, a little trick my bro told me...

hey man, you can ALREADY bench 405! just throw on a double denim shirt: it should go with a few weeks getting used to it and doing a few board presses.

if this isn't your cup o' tea, then try putting your feet ON the bench and raising your ass to heaven for that super-macho arch effect. be sure to huff n' puff like a big shot tho afterwards so everyone knows how clean the lift actually was.

if someone shouts, "It was all you, baby!", then you know for sure you got three whites. Welcome to the 400 club bro.
