Travel Tips?

Flying off to Orlando tomorrow for the sales achiever trip- woot!! Mid-70s sound GREAT! :dance2:

Checked already- My hotel seems to have a decent gym and it'll be warm enough to run outside.

Have protein powder, apples, and almonds packed already.

Will have to go with the rest of the offered meals... There was a low-carb choice that I probably should have looked into. Do you have any travel tips- specifically diet and workout?

BTW- soooooo much snow here right now! Who needs the treadmill when you have a shovel and 18 inches of the white stuff?!

Sorry it's not warm and lovely here. We are well below normal temps for this time of year. But - it probably will feel much better than where you are coming from . . .

A few weeks ago it was in the 80's and I was on the beach in a swimsuit.

Bump ;)

I could use some advice on this matter, I am leaving for Colorado on Monday and will be there until Thursday... Do you think I can bring my cooler on board w/ food... the chick seems to get stinky if not refigerated long enough..its about a 4-5 plane ride :worried:

Ischia

I have a couple strategies - alot depends on how much I have to carry w/ me - if I can I'll carry a soft side cooler w/ an icepack and pack my regular full day of meals to bring - this helps a lot for a full day on the plane. If not then I'll stick w/ the "dry" stuff:

- protein mix
- oatmeal
- pouches of tuna
- protein bars
- almonds
- all my supps - i usually lay out a plastic baggie w/ the supps I use, 1 bag for each day I'm gone. This has been critical when I am in comp prep & have a couple mouthfuls of supps to take each day.
- at least 1 or 2 plastic tupperware for holding stuff
- at least a couple plastic forks / utinsels. (I've been known to grab a pile of them from one of the deli places at the airport as well...)
- occassionally will also bring my small Brita water pitcher & the filter -- so I can refill from tap water. (Can be much cheaper than hotel Coke Machine bottled water..)

Then I also call the hotel ahead of time to see if I can get a mini fridge and / or a microwave. Also if there's any chance that I can stop at a grocery store, I'll load up stuff like more pouch tuna, a big thing of fresh salad from the deli, that precooked, presliced chicken, etc. If I"m staying at a barebones place (first note to self... get a job w/ a company that has a bigger travel budget!) you can always fall back on heating water in your coffee pot and make oatmeal in one of the coffee cups.

The two biggest things about traveling for me are 1) having food w/ me so I don't get caught w/ no options like when the plane is delayed on the runway waiting in line to get de-iced, and 2) having clean food so I don't get caught getting a stomach ache either from nasty food or no food.

LOL- I so did the coffee pot/oatmeal thing. There was also breakfast yesterday am, and I did a egg/egg white western omlet. Went much better than anticpated- thanks for your replies!

Yeah I did the coffee pot oatmeal thing too last month on a trip to Nashville. My son thought that weren't cooked enough and looked at me funny while he let them fall out of his mouth....heee heee. But I enjoyed them.

I also *highly* recommend the pouches of tuna over the cans. I've been in the airport w/ a can opener & the tuna can - its bad enough when you are sitting there eating out of the can but when you lean over the garbage can to drain out the tuna juice, continue to eat and then throw the empty can (with all the accompanying tuna smell), people generally don't like you.

If you must, I suggest you sit at a gate in a different terminal to eat & dispose of that particular protein container before going to your own gate. Much safer & less lingering smell that way.

Forget an airport- I do the pouches at work for the same reasons.

I brought a protein shaker and mixed with water- just rinsed before I got on the plane.

I also took AIRBORNE suppliments (the effervensent tablets) before travelling this time around- have you heard about them?
