Top Ethnic Restuarant Foods For Dieting

I eat a lot of different types of foods. My tops for a quick meal when I am out are.

1.) Japanese-Sushi or Sashimi-No surprise here. The fish is full of protein and has lots of "good fat"

2.)Afghan Food-Kabobs are great (lamb or chicken), low fat/high protein, and they have good things for you like eggplant, pumpkin, chick peas and so on. Their steamed pumpkin is very healthy, lots of fiber, major source of antioxidants and nutrients. I also try and eat chick peas and the eggplant.

3.)Indian Food-If you watch the carbs Indian food can be a great on the go food and the spices like cummin and so on are known cancer fighters.

4.) Korean Bar-B-Que-Man this is another great ethnic food, minimize the rice, but load up on all the interesting veggies and of course the beef and chicken breast.

Anyone else want to add any???

I don't have any to add but they all sound good. I will have to try some out. I love chinese food, tons of veggies and rice. MMMM I recently bought some frozen chinese box to eat at work. It only had 500 cals in a full takeout box. It wasn't as good as take out but it wasn't bad. It really helps add variety while dieting.

Bump for Hummus (ground chick peas in a pita wrap with some chicken, spices, and greens) :D

I can eat a whole pint of that stuff with some whole grain crackers.. mmmmmm

I'm not greek but there's some decent low calorie Greek foods if you look. Hard to stay away from the good tasting high calorie main dishes and desserts.

Souvlaki, lamb marinated in lemon juice, olive oil and herbs, then grilled. Plaki, fish broiled with garlic and tomato sauce. Dolmos stuffed vegetables steamed or baked. And shish kabobs too.

Tzatziki as a sauce on foods is low calorie. Made from yogurt, garlic and cucumbers. And Tabouli. Crushed wheat kernels mixed with chopped tomatoes, parsley, mint, olive oil and lemon juice.

Tons of ways you make Mexican food low calorie. The strong cilantro gives a good flavor without adding calories. Chile Relleno with low fat cheese is really good.

Italian there's always fish choices on the menu. Chicken cacciatore, veal without breading.....

Definitly not Phillipino food. There are certain dangers to having a phillipino GF, family dinners.

<-- pats his belly.

When bulking I love the indian buffet - for under $10 you can eat your own bodyweight in tandoori chicken.

everything else there is fat-people food, but for a massive protien & sodium binge it can't be beaten

Great input guys Greek has some excellent foods and like tweakle said an Indian buffet can be inexpensive and great and don't underestimate the spices and what they do for you health wise. It's not all just protein, fats, and carbs.

Tweakle do you eat any of the dal? That's made with lentils and is high protein. Good for you too.
