This came from a chat RW and I were having had me pause and think. So I cut my cable package to basic at home for two reasons cost went up and I felt like I was watching too much TV. Anyways there are still shows I like to watch guilty pleasure hills, the city and any off the house wives of. I time cardio sessions now so I can still watch them. LOL

Anyways I did my legs on Friday night today I am a little sore but not as sore as normal cause I did 75 minutes of cardio after my leg work out on Friday night to watch TV. So I was thinking is it the cardio that helped my legs recover faster? A lot of times I am cripple for like 2 days after my leg workouts and I know I pushed it hard last night too.

It would certainly fit in with what she was saying about active recovery....getting blood (oxygen) to the area and all. I don't know if I've noticed a difference myself but I'm curious and will probably pay attention to it more now.

Today I am a little more sore then yesterday but still not as sore as in the past. In the past it hurs to sit down on the potty. TMI LOL Everything normally hurts pretty bad for two sometimes 3 days after. I am going to keep this up for sure if this what it takes to not be in soo much pain. It may not be ideal for growth but then again I am not trying to grow my legs as they still are a bit over powering as compared to my upper body but not as bad as when I started that is for sure.

Yep it's certainly possible. Cardio, if not done uber intensely, doesn't really pound the muscles, but definitely does engorge the working ones with a lot of blood for an extended amount of time. Also helps move out a of those waste products left over from the hard workout.

i'm convinced that is the reason i recover faster. a while back i even did an "experiment".

workout#1-did legs, stretched durning after each exercise.
wanted to stay frozen. every movement was agony.

workout#2-did legs, stretched durning and after workout. still in lotta pain day after. perhaps less tightness, but could barely walk straight.

workout#3-did legs, stretch during, 30 min cardio after. next day, ALOT of tightness gone, soreness vastly lessoned, i didn't walk like a robat all day, and i didn't swear never to do legs agian this time.

I think there are times when I do a workout and I'm in a lot of pain (which is actually rare anymore), but then I can do the exact same workout, same intensity and - nada. I do DC Training so I do the extreme stretching after each muscle group - I don't really think that plays a huge roll - but again, it's hard to say.

I always do a little walking after a leg workout - but never more than 15 min. I think that can lead to some over training. Be careful doing that - as I'm sure you already know.

this is interesting and I hadn't really thought about it before

I will for sure try to pay more attention to this and run my own personal experiment, but it makes sense that cardio after would get your circulatory and lymph system moving a bit to "rinse" waste so to speak...

back when i didn't live in the middle of nowhere, the gym I went to I actually did laps after my workout in an indoor track then sat in a hot tub....everyday...

I seem to remember being less sore then...and here I thought being more sore now was because of age..
maybe not?!
