ok i need some ideas, first yes i know bf% is the biggest determining factor b4 i get that for response, but aside that can some ppl give me some good training advice on my obliques. i have never used weight cuz i hear it will make them blocky and bulge out too much (is this true), though i cannot get sight even with low bf% of my obliques, what are some exercises i can do? i never even feel broom twists at all am i doing something wrong, should i try hanging knee raises to the side, what are some ideas?
see i want the striatinos on the side of the abs, not the abss but on the side like so:

god is that not the best abs i wantttttt

I am a big fan of two exercises for obliques (I have good ones).

1. Using a hyperextension apparatus sideways.
2. side bends with moderately weighted dumbell, for me 50-75 lbs. I am 5'10" ~175-180

Try Saxons

They're the upper reverse, so to speak, of weighted side bends, highly recommended by Pavel at www.dragondoor.com

You basically take two dumbells, usually quite light to start, raise them both above your head, and lower and raise your trunk from side to side while keeping the dumbbells in exactly the same proportional distance to each other.

Sounds easy.

Isn't.

so u guys disagree then and think if i use moderate weight but not heavy i will be fine with oblique exercises and they wont get blocky.

Probably not, check out the "side bends" thread too,

First, don´t forget that Ray doesn´t just work out with "intensity" and eat "clean" to get that look.

I found an exercise that works great. Call them chops and digs. Attach the rope attachment to the high cable, stand of to the side a bit and with both hands do a chopping motion across your body while twisting the torso, like cutting down a tree.

Do the same in reverse with the attachment on the low cable and make like you´re throwing dirt over your shoulder with a shovel. Keep a bend in the arms.

Got it?
