my favorite things about gran turismo were that you use actual street-legal production cars, and that you can add all kinds of aftermarket parts.

I get that auto racing isn't your cup of tea. However, allow me to point out that open wheeled racing is the ballsiest, most driver challenging sort of auto racing there is.

In the case of F1, you're sitting in a 1200lb go-cart with 780 hp and no fenders.
