Things that Piss Me off at The Gym

curling

New member
1. People that use two stations at once. Like incline and a leg machine at the same time what's the point. I mean I don't care if they do that when the gym is not crowded but when it is very inconsiderate(especially when they are bigger than you)

2. People that stink or wear stinky clothes. Man I hate that smell it really distracts from my concentration.

3. People with bad gas and fart at a machine then walk away making it look you did it. You might have but that was earlier.

4. Of course the ole sweat on equipment thing.

5. When I am weaker from the previous week from lack or crappy eating that day.;

6. Doing dumbbell inclines. You lose two reps just from all effort getting the suckers in position to press. There should be a stand for dumbbells in every gym.

7. People doing 8 or 9 sets of bench. That is just ridulous.

8. Doing seated skull crushers with the machine and somebody on the other tries pushdown and then the bar whacks you in the back of the head while you are resting. That is some rude shit. If that guy wouldn't apologized so nicely that would have started a fight that night.

9. Not being able to think of anything else to bitch about in this thread right now. Ya'll got anything?

only one i can think of off the top of my head............. people who bench press 225

i mean........ they bench press:

the bar
a 45 lb plate on each side
3 10 lb plates on each side
2 5 lb plates on each side
2 2.5 lb plates on each side

not kidding guys........ these 2 older dudes in my gym do this everyweek........... you cant find plates for crap

Screamers. You all know them. The idiots that grunt and groan on every rep like they're fucking giving birth.

Hell, even I'll let out a yell now and again on that last failure rep. I'm not saying you shouldn't lift intensely, but jeeeez!

the jack off that does military barbell presses the entire time I'm at the gym doing chest/bi's...

and he wonders why he looks like doggy doo !!!

1) People that don't strip their weights

2)People that don't wipe down the machine
after using them.

3)Guys that stand around and watch the women
workout, without working out themselves.

4)people that spend more time looking in the mirror
than actually working out.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I hate the guys that use far too much weight, I mean a stupid amount. Then what do they do? Either proceed to use the crappest form that makes you cringe just looking at it and using every other muscle in their bodies to help lift the weight, or do some sort of partial rep thing, like a 6inch Leg Press.

But the worst thing is when they ask for a spot. It pisses me off when some guy is on the Bench Press, does 1 rep, then expects me to do my back in lifting it off his chest. This is generally followed by a shaking of the head and some lame excuse of how they did more last week, or the week before that, when you know that’s not the case.

Peace :D

i got the best of all.......

-People that do fuckin' curls in the squat rack so you can't SQUAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:freak: :destroy:

I would defintiely say people that use up all the 5 and 10 lbs. plates!! That shit pisses me off... or skinny fucks that hold the bench and preacher curl for hours because theyre the only 2 exercises they know how to do..
:D:D

Ut oh I do that. I didn't know that pisses people off. But in my defense there are two squat racks. ;)

What really pisses me off are people that are talking to you in the middle of my set........
Girls that are using light wimpy weights in fear that they are going to get HUGE and Muscular........yeah keep on waiting.
People that use their cell phones in the middle of their work outs.
Girls that use so much make up and hairspray just to look good for the guys, they dont even sweat.
Or the same people that only use cardio year after year and they still look the same.
Guys that are there for socializing not working out...
Nuff said:)

Nat,

I forgot about those damn cell phones man those piss me off too especially real obnoxious ringers. Also the girls with light weight. The other day this lady was doing curls with 2 and 1/2 pounders I go, "why bother why don't you just drink beer at least you can get a buzz from curling a beer can." :D

I avoid the curling in the squat rack by doing legs on monday, as monday tends to be the day that the bench presses are loaded.

the girls in the makeup is very common here. I don't know , but women are too obsessed about their looks. I don't think men notice such small details. I love chicks, and that's how it is. No need for some tommy girl sprays before the gym. I love their natural smell.....:p

o, and i hate the fat ass trainers telling you YOU SHOULD DO THIS while staring at your physique, which happens to be much better than his with his man tits.
blow me

Things that piss me off.

There is one guy who want everyone in the place to know he is going to be doing squats. So he sets the rack up a half hour before he is going to do anything. He occassionally walks over to do "warm up" squats, with no weight. Would you just do them for christs sakes. I need to get in there to do my curls. :)

I also hate the people that don't seem to understand that you can use the decline bench for more than doing sit ups.

there are always a couple of guys that look like they've never worked out... then they walk by and try to give you pointers... oh i hate people like that!

What pisses me off in the gym:
1) people who just stand there and stare at you while you are doing a set, or partners who come over to where you are working and stand 2 feet in front of you and start bullshitting until your set is done and then ask if they can work in- but the catch is they have to either change the bar or strip all the weight. Instead of asking how many sets I have left.
2) people who do not posses the simple laws of gym etiquette. Walking directly in front of you as you are grinding out reps, jumping on your bench when you are switching d-bells for your next set, smelling like they should be embalmed, grunting from first rep of warm up set till last set.
3) girls who walk around like every guy there wants them.
4) people who do detail exercises when there is nothing to etch detail into!

that last one really burns my ass!

Peace :D

Or even worse, they try two or three more reps.

kracken,

You lost me on that last one. What are you talking about?

Sorry for not going into detail about that.
What I meant was the guys who do do cable crossovers when all they have are nipples for a chest, or high cable curls with no arms to detail.
I never see these people do the basics for size, and they never show improvement. I could just be low carb crankey though.

I have a few :)

1) Having to fight my way through the clouds of hairspray and perfume in the cardio room to get to the weights room.

2) People who insist on trying to make eye-contact with me as I'm setting up for a heavy set. By all means look (but I dont know why your bothering) but lose the eye contact....its distracting.

3) Leaving a sweaty bench for somebody else to clean......completely unnecessary.

4) Men who are bigger than me having to play at being Billy Badass and trying to outlift me.....I really couldnt care less what anybody else is lifting and they always use bad form.

5) People who make fun of the newbie skinny/fat person. It prob took them ages to pluck up the courage to get in the gym....they should be encouraged not ridiculed.

6) People who have to shout and scream before every rep just to make sure everybody is watching.

7) People who avoid the tough exercises (squats, deadlifts) and then complain that they dont grow or get stronger.

8) People who think that I must be unfit because they dont see me doing cardio. I happen to have a resting pulse rate of 32-40 bpm (depending upon how heavy I'm lifting at that time) and my blood pressure is good....I think my heart is doing ok.

People who utilize one device/machine, designed primarily for something specific, when they could just as easily use something else.

Case in point: people using one side of a cable cross machine for abs or triceps when there are plenty of stations available for those exercises, thusly forcing me, who wishes to do cable flyes (or something else involving both limbs), into either waiting until they finish their 12th set or requesting to work in and slow down my HIIT process.

And this is at Gold's Gym Monterey Penninsula! Grrrrr....

These things piss me off:

1) using 2 or more pieces of equipment, say a bench and a (or my gym's case -THE) squat rack (and taking their sweet time about it) when the gym's packed to the gills

2) asking to work-in on something when there's an IDENTICAL piece of equipment standing VACANT less than 10 feet away

3) hoarding a bunch of dumbells for really long time, and then just leaving them all over the floor

4) not cleaning up after oneself, whether it's leaving something all sweaty (or a hair GREASE spot! ) or not re-racking the weights

5) people who think a vacant bench is their personal water bottle stand or clothes rack

6) people on the stair climbers who lock out their arms. We have this one lady who does it so bad, she even wears lifting gloves (and she rarely ever lifts!)

Oh yeah one more thing...............when girls cum up to me and insist that I do cardio all day long and eat nothing but salads............ to look that lean lol........than I tell them I eat like a pig and I love lifting heavy weights........and I only do cardio 3 or 4 times a week, tops.

the skinnier than me shit who stares me down and then flexes at me. i could beat him up with my left nut. and also the peckers who flex in the mirror to see how ripped they are. i would be ripped too if i was 6 ft and weighed 100 pounds. at least it pisses me off and then i lift the hell out of some weight.

Things that piss me off.

People who load up the bar with a ton of weight and do quarter reps. QUARTER FUCKIN REPS, and problably couldn't do a full rep if they took half that weight off.

bad day

This was a bad day for me to find this thread as I have just completed the worst week of work at the gym both working out and training people ever.

1. The idiot 17 year old kid who insisted upon going pound for pound with me while working out on military dumbbells who dislocated his shoulder trying to get the 110s up whose football coach came in the next day to talk to me.

2. The idiot football coach of the 17 year old kid who threatened to kick my ass and pushed me in the gym knowing I wouldnt do anything back to him because I was at work.

3. The guys that insistantly do not rack their weights and seemed to be working out at the station I was heading to for every exercise during every workout so far this week. Two kids even left about 600 pounds for me to unrack on the leg press how kind of them

4. The kids that hogged the squat rack today for over 1 hour talking and doing a set every 10 minutes that said they would be done in a few minutes when I asked to work in.

5. The guy that had the nerve to interrupted me while I was training a guy on the squats to tell the client that he would train him for less than what I charge. He is no longer allowed in the gym.

6. The kids who are on gear(mind you I am not but have no problem with people using it their own decision) who only bench and do arms. We have two of them who will openly talk about their cycle and I have never once seen them hit the legs. Big upper body no legs shoulders back to speak of. Just gives people the wrong idea about my friends that train hard as hell that use gear.

There are many more but I feel a little better already thankfully finding this post and now it is off to cook some steak. Later

One thing that really fucks me off is when I'm trying to get out a certain number of reps on the dumbells to beat what I did last time (eg dumbell incline or shoulder press) and just as I'm starting to struggle a little the weights suddenly go up quite easily because some bloody instructor with nothing else to do has come in and with all his strength to give me a helping hand. It might take me 6 or seven seconds but I can get it up by myself.
Another time I was benching about 110 pound dumbells and after giving it everything I had to squeeze out one last rep I put the weights down. At that point some instructor came flying out of his office with his arms waving before giving me a verbal lashing about dropping the weights onto the floor. He was very lucky I didn't knock him out.

ditto...

plus the guy that was doing squats today with such bad form that i though he was doing some new form of good mornings...

and guy that loads 4 plates on an olympic bar, swings it up a few times with his entire upper body and calls it quits for arm day....

oh and the people who STARE at you while you're doing your workout... arrrghh... get a video or something, i'm not here for your viewing pleasure buddy!!#@!$+@!

i also hate people who do exercises in power racks or sqauts racks when they can be done else where,i ask people to work in when they do that and they say no and i have been very pissed at a few assholes there

i aswell hate the people who walk by and spot u without you asking for help

and just dumb people

RAple

I hate the people that lift up the front of their shirt to wipe the sweat off their face for the soul purpose of looking at their abs in the mirror. Like they forgot what they looked like or somthing.

In order of irritation:

1) Not re-racking

2) Trying to hog more than one machine

3) Clicking the dumbells together on dumbell presses

4) Leaving sweat on the bench

5) Terrible form

6) Spending too much time on the squat rack

I actually like it when I catch someone in the act of doing one of these things, because I won' t hesitate to tell them about it. I think some people just don't know any better so do me a favor, if you see it, correct it!

I usually don't correct people on their form, most people would think you're a jerk, but it hurts to see it.

I avoid most of these by going during off-peak times when I can

Oh, how I love this thread... and just to add my two cents, I really hate gyms playing really crappy radio stations instead of putting on some decent music. Nothing more off-putting than hearing loud annoying commercials blaring over the speakers while I'm trying to bench or squat.

hardgainer (hates annoying commercials)

My gym plays "florida's hit music channel 93.3 flz" It makes me about puke everytime I hear. They play nothing but Nelly, Janet Jackson, Destiny's Child, etc.

or what about the guy who thinks he's your best friend and tries to talk to you all the time about work, life, etc. i fukin' want to just  him in the f'n head and tell him just to get the f away from me ... cant you tell by the look on my face to just get the f away from me before i snap and  just kick your f'n ass. go work out you f'n fat ass slob... and put on some f'n deoderent... and no ... i dont need a f'n spot from you.....you prick...! oh, thanks, i feel better now.

i WISH my gym would go back to playing the radio stations where they play rotate the same six songs... they just got some stupid satellite and now we get to listen to techno crap... i HATE techno with an absolute passion... if anything is going to drive me to shove weights down someone's throat it will be that constant record-skipping techno song that goes on for 15 minute playing the same 5 sec of music over and over and over and over...arrrghhhh

i guess its time to look for a new gym...

i clean my gym which is cool, and saturdays i do it when the club is closed and i finished up early and i had just happened to have my gym bag with my slipknot cd and gym clothes so i decided to throw slipknot into th player, which you wouldnt hear ever in that gym and had a hell of a shoulder workout,i havent enjoyed throwing around weight that much in a long time

This one really pisses me off!

Your on your last set of a high rep- low weight workout and the 17-year old high school hero sets up next to you and squeezes out 2 terrible form reps on the same weight you are doing. You then overhear him bragging to his buddies about how he works out on the same weight that the big guy does.

I want to ring his little neck, wrap him around about 405lbs, then get a few good reps to teach him a little respect.

Carp Out.......
