The topic of sexism

Ever notice how in the movies or on TV even if a woman is a doctor or a lawyer she still looks like a playboy bunny?

TV and movies almost never feature old, heavy, or unattractive women. However, everywhere there is a talk show or a news broadcast, what do you see? An older, graying man, paired with a 25-year-old, starved, blonde, playboy-bunny-looking woman. Sexism, sexism, sexism!!! Tell me, when does Cher or Star Jones get to host a talk show with some young jock????

*wants to go into TV so she can produce that show*

Sorry, but that has absolutely nothing to do with sexism. Look it up.

That's biology. It's reality. Deal with it.

Christianity punishes fat women by either making them appear invisible on T.V, like a vampire in a mirror, or by making them look like Roseanne.

Fat people are amongst the slender people on T.V, it's just that Jesus hates them.

this is the most useless and senseless post of the day. i have concluded two things from this, one of them being that youre a homosexual, and the second being that youre a retard.

I don't think it is a case of sexism, I think it is a cruel joke of nature. Men as a general rule become more attractive as they age...women don't. It is human nature to want to look at that which we find attractive, we don't go out and buy the ugliest furniture we can find for our homes, we don't buy clothing that doesn't look good on us, given a choice between looking at flowers and looking at tumble weeds in our yards most would take the flowers. Also the whole argument really doesn't hold water when it comes to fat - look at Oprah, they don't come much bigger than that and she seems to be rakin' in the bucks.

Actually, the lack of non-bunny ladies on TV IS sexism.

Sexism = unequal treatment for men and women in the workplace. If we say workplace = on tv, then, there are plenty of unattractive guys on tv, look at the cast of your average cop series. Plenty of fat cops and lawyers on there. But have a fat female character, and there's a national scandal.

Unless the physical requirements for male actors on a tv series (eg Ally McBeal) are of equal standard (ie only lean, cut, tanned, young, attractive males - they do NOT get more attractive as they get older), then there is sexism. (On Ally McBeal there is an equal beauty standard for the men, so the show isn't sexist imho, it's just crappy).

No-one ever talks about Jay Leno's overhanging belly or Conan O'Brien's muscle tone. Until equal attention is paid to the physique of the men on tv, there is sexism.

Peopl seem to expect that any woman on tv, even if it's not in a "top totty" show like Baywatch, where the guys are equally in shape, is required to be attractive. I see no reason why a lawyer or cop character has to look particularly good, as I've seen plenty of unattractive guys playing these roles.

i totally agree. we should have women like this playing the lead roles in movie's such as Charlie's Angels. EVERYONE wants to see this when they go to the movies

You are missing the point, poink. No-one is suggesting that Playboy feature 300lb ladies in their 70s in the centrefold. THere is a time and a place for "totty TV" and movies, and Charlies Angels, James Bond etc do not bother me in the slightest. They don't, because the guys have to be equally in trim. Can you imagine Brosnan hanging on to the Bond role having gained 50lbs? I don't think so.

What bothers me is when it's IRRELEVANT yet the woman's apeparance is somehow an issue. One example I could give is Rosie O'Donnell. She is fat. Yes. Very fat indeed. But, and here's the but, as far as I can see she is a very good chat show host. That is her job. Her being fat does not have any ffect on her ability to interview guests. You may not like her show, or her personality, fine. But if you feel that she should be judged on how sexually attractive you find her although that is NOT the point of her job (as opposed to Pyaboy bunnies, where that IS their job), you are being sexist.

No-one is suggesting that you should want to fuck Rosie O'Donnell. The issue is, whether or not you want to fuck her is not important, her show is not there for that purpose. If you feel that nonetheless the fact that you, personally wouldn't fuck her is MORE important than her talents as a pv presenter, then you are being sexist.

Sexism is where a woman is seen and treated as if her sexual attractiveness is all that matters about her when it is not important.

Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with one of the women in the pic poink posted hosting a chatshow, anchoring a news show, presenting a game show etc. All of these are jobs that require a certain amount of talent, which size has nothing to do with.

If you are trying to get your sexual kicks watching the network news hour, I suggest you get cable, like, right now.
