The potential for losing opinions on this board...

Ok...Here is what i think.
This is a powerlifting board...people here lift for strength am i right. Sometimes i think that they are intimidated by all the pros here. People who seems to know everything. Than whenever one of us says anything there is a saying "if u have never been in a meet than you should shut up...." bla bla bla. Well, of course they have never been to a meet if they are just getting started... But i do feel that everyone has a right to put in their two cents. Any criticism given here to anything is usually contructive.

Ie Chuck's Squat...no one was saying that he isn't a strong mofo
It just seems like some people are taking things way too personally. I think this discourages some of the newer people because basically you are saying that they have no opinion. I don't think that is fair.

"Do you think you can move 1,000 pounds even 1 single inch in the squat?? Tell us all what gives you the right to bitch about anybody's lifting? What are you HUGE numbers? What are your credentials?"

I think that if people will take that attitude than they are only going to discourage people from voicing their opinion. Which i think is not a good thing. It keeps things balanced anyhow.

You may be right, but I will not let someone bash a sport that I love. I fyou don'tlike the way thegame is played now then don't watch and don't play. ANd to some point, the statement of being in a meet has credibility. How can you pass judgement if you have never even don e it yet?? There has to be a happy medium somewhere. You know the saying -- opinions are like assholes -- everybody has one. I wouldn't tell anyoen not post there opinion but I will raise the bullshit flag when I see something that looks and smells like bullshit no matter who it comes from.

1 dawg is right bashing is one thing. Now an opinion is different. If a newbie has an opinion and i see he might just be misinformed we can at least let them know the rules incase he hasnt been in a meet. Hell If Chucks squat was turn down due to his toes touching i am sure he couold bring them in one inch and still un cork the 1000lb. The only two negattive people who contiuelly bash, not opinionate, but bash are ...well i will leave it alone. But the 2 there so insisted that the squat was bull shit. But if we are in anyway intimidating newbies i am sorry and maybe we can hold back a little bit when something comes up. powerlifting is a put up or shut up sport and if you go to other websites you will see heated debates by many pro's over the speed of a lockout, to chucks depth. On the pro board on another site the top guys in this game not newbies but pro's had this same topic and still have it going about the squat. But the only question a pro has is his depth not his toes. This is the only place you will hear that one. We were just trying to inform. Cause i can tell flex hasnt competed before. Were helping him!

I wasn't arguing about the squat...but yeah i kinda have to agree with 1 dawg...bashing is a little extreme. As long as it is constructive. I guess this happens a bit in all forums. It becomes personal and than disintigrates from there..
