The Anabolic Diet

anyone ever follow dr. mauro dipasquale's anabolic diet while on gear? is it wise to really eat whatever you want during the carb up or is it better to eat "clean carbs" during this phase if you also want to shed a little fat on the diet? also, since it's a "near ketosis" diet, do you really have to keep the carbs at 30g/day if you are not going overboard with the fat and keeping protein higher than recommended? i have been keeping them at 30-50g/day and so far, so good. what do dudes think?

yes - it works

I think clean carb ups are more effective

also, since it's a "near ketosis" diet, do you really have to keep the carbs at 30g/day if you are not going overboard with the fat and keeping protein higher than recommended?
I don't believe dipsquales style of near ketosis...Ketosis is like pregnancy, you're either pregnant or you're not, can't be near pregnant

30-50g a day will keep you in Ketosis, so it should be fine

Read my CKD manual...(in my sig. is the link)

but i thought there were different stages of ketosis such as trace, mild, moderate, severe, etc. isn't that what the ketostix test for? maybe this is what he meant by "near ketosis", meaning "mild"? thats why i was wondering if 50g was too much cuz so far, i keep testing negative for ketosis. wonder why...

The so called "levels" that you see on the Ketosix strip is just a sign of Ketonurea (ketones in the urine), it has nothing to do w/ the level of Ketosis. For diabetics it's a sign of posible high blood acidity levels and low blood sugar, which can be deadly for them. For the ketonic dieter, it's just a sign of how many ketones are getting used for energy and how many can be excrerted - basically showing nothing.

Sometimes people test negative for ketones in their urine, but they end up having a high concentration of Ketones in the blood - probably due to activity levels. Most of the time, Ketoanemia will come before Ketonurea, that's why an investment in a ketone meter (tests for ketones in the blood - about $150) will help you in your dieting process.

Like I said before, you're either in Ketosis or you're not...
