Teacher Arrested For Allegedly Having Sexual Affair With Student
Friday March 9, 2007
She's a 35-year-old teacher.
He's a 15-year-old student.
But Toronto Police allege they were far more than just an instructor and a pupil. They've charged the educator with sexual exploitation and say she was having a romantic and sexual affair with the young man.
Authorities first became aware of the alleged tryst after receiving a tip from Crime Stoppers.
They claim the alleged relationship began shortly after the accused, Spanish and Family Studies teacher Paola Queen (top left), began her career at Nelson A. Boylen C.I. in 2005.
But this already bizarre story gets even stranger.
It's believed the woman is now six-months pregnant with the student's child and his family has so far refused to help police with their investigation.
Even though he's a minor, there are reports they actually approve of the alleged relationship.
Boylen students were let out for March Break on Friday, but their vacation wasn't the main thing they were talking about. This case has become one of the focal points of conversation at the school.
"This is very serious," avers Wesley Gooden, who attends the high school. "You know we're having teachers that are teaching us and then you hear another story about how teachers are getting into relationships and that kind of thing. I think it's disgusting."
But many students are having trouble believing the sordid story.
"She's a very nice teacher, she's always positive. It's very hard to believe that something like this could happen to her because she's a very positive person," responds Abi Theva.
"There are some who are very upset and taking it pretty hard because she was a very dear teacher to us."
Queen has been released on the condition she doesn't go anywhere near Boylen. She'll be in court to answer the allegations on April 17th.
