Sumo deads are pretty cool!

Been doing these for a few weeks, just for a change, and I have to say, Lobo, you were so right all those many months ago when I first started DL'ing, and you recommended sumo style. I went with conventional first, wanting to get basics right before adding variations, but this is one variation I should have tried much earlier.

I have pretty long legs, and conv. deads have always felt a bit uncomfortable, trying to avoid smashing my knees on the way up. Sumo's shorten the stroke and avoid the knee problem altogether.

The shin problem is another story - OW! I hate when it's a new bar and the gnurling is super rough.

Love to deadlift, way easier for me than squatting-these long legs I guess. Anyhow the sumo deads are cool. I also do them off of steps. Did find a solution to the skinned up shins, I bought shin guards at Walmart and they work great. Way better than walking around with red shins for days.-Valerie

HUMMMMmmmmm???? I WONder .....

Oh, and I do them with an overhand grip, with straps on the heaviest sets. The bar swings around to the side when I try alternating grip. Not good.
