such thing as TOO MANY carbs post insulin shot?

ironmaster: great post.

took my first shot yesterday (5-6iu) and felt slightly sick and dizzy after taking in post drink (75g carbs, 60g protein).

after consuming meal around an hour after shot i felt 10x's better.

by then it should be out of your system basically with a half-life of 4-7 hours on the norm for most individuals (varies). this is for Humulin-R. for humalog its similar, but its shorter acting.....so things need to be adjusted. i figure you meant for R.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you want low GI carbs for your second meal?
 
I did this and it worked very well

1 hour before wokrout, 50g protein, 60g slow GI carbs, 7g fat(the fat in the oatmeal that I eat..)

post wokrout with 10iu slin
120g dextrose(110g carbs), 50g Whey Isolate(60g proteinpowder), 250mg ALA, creatine and glutamine

1 hour later

80-100g carbs(GI 50-60), maximum 5g fat, 70-80g protein and atleast half of that from whey.

2 hiour later, no fat, 60g carbs, 50g protein

2 hours later 20g fat, 50g carbs, 50g protein.

For me it seems like you will get fat if you mix up carbs + slin + fat, and if you eat something like 100g carbs each time and consume something like 100g every other hour. Just go down on the fat, and from that eat normal.

Try avoiding high GI foods all day, except post wokrout.

i'm "on the run" at work or whatever for the second meal....so maltodextrin (which is about as complex as i found) has to do for the carb. not sure on its GI rating TBH....but it works for me fine. especially since i just loaded up on a sugar filled protein drink a few hours before. but yes, if i were to sit down and have the luxury to eat (which i do not, i drive for my afternoon job)....i would take in some sort of low GI carb.

i wake up and w/o immediately at home, so i take a lighter pre-w/o drink.....maybe a double shot of amino fuel liquid, not much carbs and a decent amount of protein (22 carb/30 protein). fast acting though which is what i need.

agreed on post w/o....120 grams dextrose and 40 grams whey for me

agreed 1-2 hours later...100 grams carbs (complex as i can get it) with 50 grams long acting protein of some sort

not agreed 2 hours after that. i mix fat/carb/protein evenly. just the way i do it. may make for more fat storage....but hey its fun while i'm eating it and the fat comes off later real easy for me.

at this point i go into "normal mode" and just take in about 40 grams whey protein or thereabouts every 2-3 hours with food or flax oil. try to stay away from bad carbs of course, and focus on protein and fat with minimal carbs
 
I basically pig-out on carbs for the 6 hours after my post-workout insulin. Haven't noticed any fat gain at all, just a lot of nice mass gains. :)

lol. right! i try not to give that as advice though....i stick to the normal methods used so as not to misguide anyone. but i am good the first two post insulin feedings (basically carb/whey drinks down to the "T" of the tried and true methods of slin usage) then i pig out like a mofo the third meal. :) i'm talking LOTS of food, much of it junk. :D
