Strengthmonster's heavy calf training pic

Went heavy tonight and took this photo. 300 full stack + a 20kg plate pinned on the side + three people weighing from left to right 15st, 16 1/2st and 15st = pure pain. Well over 1000lb. The guy on the left insisted on standing as far back as possible to make it harder - bastard. I got 3-4 slow, controlled reps.

for me i could do a 1/4 of that weight with FULL strict form and get more from it than having guys stand on the machine...

but thats just me;)

Hey don't get me wrong, it was the heaviest weight I have lifted on anything I think. My quads felt it as soon as I locked them out as I trained them only yesterday and wow did it hurt.

I totally agree with what you are saying about training lighter with strict form which is why I alternate heavy days with light days. My calves are fairly strong although they arn't my best looking bodypart as can be seen on my other pics here so I've started hitting them 3 days a week now; Mon, Wed and Fri. It seems to be working as they are growing and my strength is gaining - only 3 months left until my comp now though so I've still got plenty of hard work to put in.

As you can imagine I went a little heavier than usual for the photo but it was a working set. My heavy day is normally 1st set the stack for 15 reps, 2nd +20kg plate for about 12, 3rd with my partner on top - usually get about 8. Then I'll do 3 sets of seated or donkeys/leg press working at 5-8 reps failure. Reps are always full - all the way down slowly, pause and drive all the way up as far as I can go. I really believe in the mind-muscle connection and focus all my energy into the part I am working. Then as I mentioned I also do a light day where I do it all at 8-20 reps and sometimes use drop sets etc. I like to to this in calves as you get the benefiet of hitting both slow and fast twitch fibres more effectively.

Hmmm

Hey, I count 995lbs.
Assuming the 300 stack is pounds and not kgs, in that case it's 1355lbs.
Good on ya for moving some serious weight.

Rugger

27 reps with 865lbs at my gym, next set I only got 18! next only 12.

damn I'm sore, sorry no pic though. It was 580lbs with an EZ-curl bar over the top of the machine and 3 plates on each side

Nice pic but calf training isn't real impressive to me.

Let's see a deadlift, clean, or overhead picture - now those are tests of strength!!!

no disrespect intended but that just looks silly....its alot of weight but 3-4 reps...what is that really going to do for you....most guys i know have to do at least 15-20 reps just to get a workout:mix: on the other hand...you are a strong muthaf*cker:D

First of all that weight isn't anything, the stack is 300 and the guy right over you accout for most of the weight, the other two people are so far back you have too much leverage, if u actually think you were doing all their weight you are mistaken.

I do 750 lbs of real weight for 10 reps and my calves aren't anything. I'll struggle with 800 for 8, but the calf machine I have at the gym now, I can put on 1,000 and do 20 reps easily because of where the weight stack sits in realation to your shoulders. I could post a pic of me with 100 lb plates pinned to the machine, it may look impressive but its not, its all in relation to the leverage that you get from the particular machine.

Not trying to be an asshole, but its certainly nothing to brag about, and I would laugh at any guy that had 3 guys on the machine, talk about trying to get attention, I know arnold did it, but your not arnold.

To all those who gave nice comments, thanks. They are appreciated. Some people seem to take it too seriously though. Picking apart at things - where the fuck are your pics then? Like I said I don't always go so heavy - it was for a photo!!! HELLO! If you read further up my calf training schedule is listed and I do high reps, lower weight as well. I am sure when Arnold did it he did the same.

I wasn't looking for any attention either. It was on Friday night at the end of my workout and the gym had been shut 15 mins meaning the only people in the building were me, the owner, my training partner and the 3rd lad who works behind the counter - as well as my Mrs; who took the photo - so sorry boys no gay porn videos that night. Yes you are right it is not 1000lb. It is 995 if the stack is in pounds (which I think it is but am unsure - I'll check on Monday). I took a guess and was wrong. The people who are saying yeah but the two guys weighed less because of leverage - maybe they did but for me it was still an achievement so I don't give a fuck what anyone else thinks. I train for me nobody else and never claimed to be the worlds strongerst man. I am sure all of you can do much more as you state and eagerly await seeing the photos on here.

Deadlift and standing overhead press pics will come. As will squat and many others. I just happened to be training calves that night. Here's one of some flies with 110s or are you all gonna tell me my arms are too bent on my 6th rep. I bet everyone on here can piss them for 25 reps with their arms fully locked out.

Very impressive bro....
I think that if anyone says anything negative about your lifts , they should back it up with a picture of their own lifts....

No problems mate. It was more 'the_blonde_muffs' comments that pissed me off. Why would someone aspire to be Lee Priest that is atronger than him already? I still await your pictures.
