Straight legged deadlift

I've been doing it like the exrx example, but it seems odd that you'd round your back that much, so I'd like to hear this answered by someone with some experience too.

:)

I can't tell if the first guy is on a block or not, but the hairy guy gets credit for that. The hairy guy doesn't seem to be bending his knees, I have injuries that state not to fucking do that.

I've always done them off a block like hairy but higher, knees bent like slim, and my back gets a little rounded at bottom, but I don't think as much as hairy. Could be wrong though.

personally I think that once you max the ROM of the hamstrings you stop. In other words hairy guy is wrong. All that does is stretch out your lower back and spine.

For most people that means the bar will end up at around knee level or slightly under. When you lower the bar you keep it close to your body, and stick your butt/hips back, knees should be slightly unlocked, and back straight.

I go down slow and explode up really fast.

Actually, these might be two different exercises. Hairy guy is doing the Straight leg deadlifts, and the other dude is doing STIFF leg deadlifts.

Personally, I never do them with straight legs. I keep my knees slightly bent and locked into postion (stiff).

I prefer to do partials with stiff legged deadlifts (assuming the purpose is to build hamstrings).

The partials that I do are the the lower part of the exercise (as you're bent over) with very little range of motion, just as long as you actually feel the hamstring stretch and contract. Anything more and you transfer the workload to the lower back.

As a bodybuilder I like to superset this with hamstring curls (curls first). Heavy weight / Low rep for curls, moderate for partial S(tiff)LDL
