Still new to cooking chicken

It seems chicken is the most versatile, most eaten, most affordable, and easiest /fastest to cook out of all the lean meats.

For the past few months I've been buying Publix Brand Chicken Filets and throwing them on the Foreman grill right out of the package, and just sprinkle on Mrs. Dash while they are cooking, or sometimes just cook them completely plain and use SF Barbeque sauce when I eat them, I don't really care much about the taste to be honest.

Does anyone else here use the Publix Brand Chicken Filets? Publix is a grocery store in the southern states.

Also I went to Whole Foods, and this guy kept telling me to buy the fresh chicken breasts from there, but it was something like $6.99/lb is it really worth it?

If I buy chicken fresh do I need to pick off the white stuff on it? Usually when I buy the filets, I dont wash them or cut anything, and I just toss them right on the GF Grill at 3 at a time, and do it for 14 min, 3 times :)

So I usually make 9 chicken breasts at a time. Then store them for the week.

I honestly don't think it makes a difference.

Take some olive oil (a teaspoon) and smear it on both sides of the chicken. Throw on some Carribean Jerk seasoning and then broil it in an oven. You'll love the taste (if you like spicy food).

I occassionally buy the Publix stuff - I tend to buy my chicken in bulk from Costco tho - there's more fat cut off & they are packaged for easy storage in the freezer. Other than the whole argument for organic / free-range chicken (not fed w/ growth stuff) as long as its a reputable distributor, skinless, boneless chicken breasts should be about the same. Whole Foods goes overkill on the "better" thing tho -- for the volume of chicken I eat, I am w/ my sister-in-law when she refers to Whole Foods as "Whole Paycheck" instead. I don't think its necessary to spend that sort of money.

I started buying fresh... but then I had to freeze them home, simply cause I didn't have enough space....

Originally, I would let them thaw overnight... then started to buy the individually frozen ones, the once you can simply put in the pan with no thawing... taste the same, no additional stuf (carbs, sauces, etc) and it's more convenient. (it's not even more expensive).

Where I live, we don't have Publix or Whole Foods....but I've shopped at Publix in the past when visiting my parents in FL - they always had decent meats, IMO......I now buy my chicken at Costco for $2.49/lb as they have very little fat & are packaged individually so all I have to do is pop them in the freezer.....

As for cooking - it depends on what I want that day for that meal spice/seasoning-wise......
