I see alot of people incorporate cardio into their routine and was wondering how that affects your leg workouts. For me, squats once a week is all my legs can take. I am sore whenever I do cardio. So in an effort to cut, should I remove squats from my routine so that I can concentrate on getting a good cardio workout (stairs, jogging) or keep the squats and suffer through the cardio?

Never remove squats from your routine!!! :)

Maybe cut back on the volume of squatting a bit. Also, light cardio would probably help your legs recover because it will get blood flowing to the muscle and tendons that need to recover.

depends-- are you bulking or cutting??? if your trying to gain mass in your legs-- then lose the cardio.

Cutting right now. Willing to lose a little or a lot of mass in order to shed fat.

if having huge legs is not a priority-- then alternate squats on one day & leg presses, SLDLs onthe next... & also dont take out cardio (maybe drop it down to 2 or 3 days).

Bump for that

So the anabolic effects of squats will do more to facilitate weight loss than the extra cardio that could replace them?

can anyone elaborate why squats are necessary during cutting?

Bump...

not sure if they are exactly "necessary," just a really good idea.

your legs make up a large (if not the largest) portion of your body...you'll burn A LOT of calories with squats.

plus they are too fun and too beneficial to just toss out! then again I have this thing for leg day...:D
