Hello ,
My question is i been doing sprinting cardio to lose weight the past week,
i do 8 75meter sprints followed by walking 70 meters,
i look at my BPM every 2 sets,
its been 180, 195, 201, 198 today
One of my questions is , is 201BPM way to high? im 19.
anyway im trying to lose about 20 lbs, and do you think if i keep this up i will lose it fairly fast?
I do this exercise in the morning and afternoon,
right afterwards i do 3x50 crunches, and 3x15 pushups.
any insight is welcomed.

As long as your diets right bud you'll see the pounds drop

HIT is good to cut fat but there's been studies shown that moderate intensity cardio burn more fat direct than high intensity.

The difference is glycogen use vs carbohydrate use

On a keto diet moderate intensity cardio workout in the morning is an absolute fat sizzler

just stay on your feet and keep the heartrate up, strombroli

For your age, going over 187 beats/min is going anaerobic. But you're gonna be anaerobic with these sprints anyways...over 200 is high :)

Also a lot of the time those heart rate things are off, mine goes over 202 all the time and I'm 17. Don't worry about it, you start throwing up if your heart rate goes too high.

I think you would, first, how many lbs you want to loose every week? If at least 3 lbs (I think this is fast enough for a week),
Then calculate it on how much time you need to target those weight. :)

220 minus age = max heart rate.
Though this is not necessarily true, because your heart rate also depends on conditioning and genetics.

I had a max of 203 at 28y. I have sprinted all my life.
Also those watches are not 100% accurate all the time.

It's not called sprint cardio, but HIT.
HIT is a very good way to shapen up fast. Check youtube on High Intensity Training.

Keep it up.

pay 0 attention to heart rate. if you're doing your sprints as hard as you can, what difference does it matter if your heart rate says 160=180 or 210? all those watches with all this info on is just more numbers tht mean nothing. look at the kenyans. hard days , balls to the wall. who cares what the hr is (per the runners) ez days super ez.. no moderate days. cat improve on moderation..
as far as 220-your age, thats a rule of thumb, which isnt accurate at all. my max is 201, (a beat or 2 up or down, but lets just call it 200.) so 200-54=146.. wtf!!!!! 146. i do 30 minutes @ 180 heart rate on some training days.
a pro world class cyclist, way better than me has a max hr of 176. 30 year old dude that kills lance armstrong in 1 day races....so , my opinion, is throw away all the expensive gadgets that tell you numbers that mean nothing, and go all out on hard days and go ez on recovery days.
all the best

I've heard different views on HIIT.

1. Combing a sprint workout or HIIT and weight training and you will burn fat all day and produce more growth hormone at night that helps in muscle growth. (makes sense if you look at any sprinters legs) sprinter not marathoner!

or

2. Doing HIIT will cause muscle loss if you are trying to burn fat.

What do you guys think? Does it just depend on diet?

Im interested to know how to Do HIIT and burn fat while gaining muscle? or at least not losing it
