Split Help - Bumping Up the Frequency

Silent Method

New member
I'm looking to increase my training frequency per muscle group. Here's my old split. I have had no problem whatsoever with recovery here.

Day 1
Chest, tris

Day 2
Soulders, biceps

Day 3
Back, abs

Day 4
Legs, lower back

OFF

I know there is some overlap with tris, bis, etc. JUST THE WAY I WANTED IT for you squakers. :)

Here's what I'm starting to do.

Day 1
Chest, shoulders, tris

Day 2
Back, biceps, abs

Day 3
Legs, lower back

Day 4
Chest, shoulders, tris

Day 5
Back, biceps, abs

Day 6
Legs, lower back

OFF

Opinions?

I'm pretty sure that's Ronnie Coleman's split. 6 days a week each bodypart twice a week.

Good luck.

In all seriousness man, you will kill yourself on that. I wouldn't be surprised if you LOST muscle. Even if you only did one set for each bodypart, which you won't, you would still heavily overtrain. If you want to bump up the frequency, check out the DC thread, his philosophy has a lot to do with maximum frequency with no overtraining for the best possible gains.

:D

I know what it looks like. However, I'm almost begining to think, dare I say it, I'm blessed with great genetics as far as recovery goes.

I'm a big believer in periodization and this isn't going to be used for more than a month or two. This is something I'm going to try for a while to assess what it does to me.

What I'm really looking to do is design a split according to estimated muscle group recovery time (far from what I have outlined here).

I did something similiar to that for YEARS maybe 10 ? did I over train ...probably ....if you wish to do that split in that order...how about throwing in a day off at day 4 then back to training at day 5? working on a 8 day rotation instead of a seven....you do have to set it according to our concept of a week ...make up your own"week"

Thanks for the input guys. I know it's heavy, but I need to see it for myself - even if I only stick with it for two weeks. :)

Deepsquat, no reason I'm trying to fit it into a week (in fact I don't like the idea of Monday BEING leg day, etc., etc.). A second break in there sounds good.
