Speed And Agility

My winter football league is starting soon...I want to increase my quickness and my agility. Does anyone have any advice or articles to read????

Sprints and box jumps help in explosive speed. but for agility try to crossover drills, highknees and tap runs. plus jumping rope helps. Turning drills help as well set up four cones in a square and use them for pivot points when you run.... Running downhill and uphill will help strengthen your legs and develope speed...

plyometrics work well. So do any drills tht will help to teach proper running mechanics. You can also check out Charliefrancis.com. A great sight for sprinting info.

1. Sprints

2. Agility Ladder Drills (a lot of them)

3. Plyometrics (focus on depth jumps, box jumps, standing long jumps, side lateral jumps, and single leg hops over barrier or line.)

4. Stadium Stairs, Stadium Stairs, Stadium Stairs!!! One of the best exercises to improve muscular endurance.

5. Cone Drills. Practice quick cuts, emphasizing plant foot and exploading off it.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Plyometrics... I did them in Track and Field at Indiana University... they were killer. They helped my overall 40 time and also added a few inches to my already (at the time) insane vertical.
