Spartan Race / Tuff Mudder

Is that similar to the warrior dash series?

Yeah but is supposed to be more intense. The Tough Mudder is prob the worst. The Spartan has different levels of difficulty. The warrior dash is like the Spartan Sprint which is 3+miles and ten obstacles...the Spartan Beast is 12-13miles and 25+ obstacles. The tough mudder about the same as the Beast from what I can tell but if you have a good finish time you get invited to the Toughest Mudder at the end of the year. The Mudder was developed by British Special Forces.

I ran the Warrior Dash early last year. Cakewalk compared to Tough Mudder.

Finished Tough Mudder in October. TM is definitely tough. Obstacles were no problem for me, but I didn't take the distance as serious as I should have.

Last October I ran the Urbanathalon in Chicago, and had been training at half marathon distances. I kind of blew off the distance of the TM because of the amount of obstacles. Rationalizing that the longest distance between obstacles wouldn't be more than 1.5 miles. Next time I will not make the same mistake.

Many people say being able to run a decent 5k is enough, but I will disagree. For me, I think having a good 10 minute pace at 8-10 miles is where I would want to be.

I would highly recommend TM. It was a blast.

I believe that will be my weak point. Running is not my favorite thing. I prefer sprints and relays along with weight lifting. This will be a challenge that I welcome.

I ran Tm. The obstacles like above weren't an issue the distance blows and I used to run competitively in high school and college. So def work on endurance distance running and hill running during training for it.
