ours is family op including a cemetery

when we bought the place in '93-'94 we did about 90-100 cases a year
the cemetery had been around 30 years or so,but the funeral home was 1 year new
while the competition that had been in business for 30+ years did about 200/year


now in 2007 at the end of august we had about 160+ (on tract to do about 240 in a year)
while the competition has about 55
the competition is owned by SCI

Nice. My father started his own in 77 and then joined withsome else in 83 and then sold it in 95 to SCI when I said it was not for me. Went to college for business instead. Now he stays on as Managing Director. They pay him just to keep his name. Works 2 days a week if that... Not a bad gig. He busted his ass when he started, 24/7 solo. So now he gets to live the life! God bless him.
