I have had a few requests to expand on why you want to avoid anything soy.
Here are a few examples:
1. high levels of phytic acid in soy decrease levels of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc. ....growth problems.
2. trypsin inhibitors in soy interfere with protein digestion and could lead to pancreatic disorders
3. phytoestrogens in soy distrupt endoccrine function and they are potent antithyroid agents that cause hypothyroidism, could lead to thyroid cancer
4. vitamin B12 is not absorbed and increases body's need for the vitamin AND you need an increase in vitamin D
5. processing of soy proteins result in formation of carcinogenic nitrosamines( cancer causing precursors)
6. soy contains high levels of aluminum, which is toxic to the nervous system and kidneys.
