Some Advice - Always starving!

'allo all. Been reading these boards nonstop for the last 3 nights at work, which my bosses and co-workers havent been to fond of, but they'll get over it. Now, I'm wondering if some of you nutrition gurus can lend a porker some advice on getting back into the swing of things!

First off, sorry for the length of this post, but i appreciate the time anyone takes to read it over and offer any feedback and advice.

Over the last 4 yrs or so, I've let myself go to shit. Basically it is all in my Gut and lovehandles, but my overall health and eating habits, companied with a total lack of workout has turned me into a 215lb sluggish pile of goo. So 4 weeks ago I finally joined a gym and have been hitting it religiously. Just trying to get my body back into the feel of doing activity again, plan on starting Needsize's 5x5 program by end of this week.

Onto my eating habits. Well, Before a month ago, I had no discipline whatsoever. With working nights half of the week, I've found it hard to find some sort of groove to fall into as far as a "diet". I use that term loosely, for i really dont believe in 'diets'(unless you are looking to rip up for a show in a short amount of time, which I am not) , but believe more in changing overall eating habits. Bascially I have cut my portions in half. Where i would before take 4 scoops of ice cream, I now take 2. I dont allow the wife to buy any 'junkfood', cept turkey hill peanut butter cup ice cream! =)!. Instead of running to the vending machine at work for a snickers bar, i now munch on raw veggies and fruits. I try to eat 'something' every 2-3 hours. While I am waiting for my Thermorexin to come in the mail, I am currently taking 3 Stacker3's a night. Not only for the Therm effects, but also to stay awake at work. I have cut out my soda intake 100%, and now mainly drink soley water. I may have a glass of diet soda with dinner.

I work Wed, Th and Fri nights, 9pm - 9am. Most other nights I am off, unless OT kicks in. For this reason, its hard for my body to get used to any one set schedule.

Having cut out all my junkfood intake, I am constantly starving. I just had a sandwhich at 11:15 and it is now 12 and I cant wait until 2 to eat again.

I guess What i am looking for is some overall, general eating advice. Once i get base eating habits down, then maybe I will try one of the diets suggested on the boards. However I see too many ppl go on diets, go off, and go right back to their sloppy A eating habits and balloon right back into Fat As. Id rather get my S straight, then diet, so my body will be accustomed to eating 'correctly' where i wont bloat back up to a stuffed sausage after i am done with the diet.

A basic work day looks like this. Wake at 7, eat dinner. Usually a Chicken or Steak w/rice/beans/potato and a green. Hit work, pop a stacker. Munch on karrots until i eat a sandwhich at 11ish. Usually PnJ to satisfy the kid in me. At 1 or 2 i have my 'meal-meal', usually a chicken/pasta/steak with one side, usually rice. at 4-5 I down a myoplex peanut butter bar. at 7 or 8 I try to intake some fruits, bananna, grapes, kiwi, apple. Not all at once, but enough where i feel semi full. After work i hit the gym, get home at 11ish. Have a potein shake(myoplex low carb) and go to bed.

Unfortunately I hate tunafish, or any fish for that matter. So i cannot incoporate that into my diet. What else could I do so i do not feel so hungry. How the hell am i to get 215g of protein into my system?

My main goal is to lose BF, it would be nice to drop down to 200 or so, but I am more concerned with BF and inches on my gut than weight.

Thanks again if you read this long A winded post and I appreciate any advice!!

Thanks.

You need to eat smaller more frequent meals.
Eating 5-6 meals spaced about every 3 hours apart will help keep you from feeling hungry all the time.

Make sure you're not eating too many processed or high gi carbs and sugar, these will elevate your blood sugar levels and thus make you feel more hungry

Drink lots and lots of water a day (at least 3-4 litres)

BA is right on. I too work nights and it took a while for me to get a sched and meals down.

When I start craving at work or get hungry between meals, I drink a protien shake. Helps with the protein intake and it is low carb (4 grams).

If your serious about loosing BF check out swolecat.com. He has really helped me design a plan that works. Even if you don't consult him, there is still alot of good info on changing your eating habits. Good luck bro.

Find a vitamin rich in Chromium as well. Chromium is an excellent appetite suppressor....at least for me.

I agree with the Low GI foods. Eating that way enabled me to lose MORE weight than on a CKD. So, to make it simple, check the food label on the carbs your eating. Make sure it is low in sugars, high (atleast 3 or 4g) in fiber, and high in protein (6 or 7g). This usually means it will be lower GI. Good examples for these are: Bran, Whole wheat, oats, soy, and veggies are all low gi (for the most part)... include these in your diet. If you dont like fish, eat more chicken. eat some soy beans, or high protein veggies (brocholli, peans, lima beans, etc...)

The 5x5 is a good routine, but not for a begginer trying to lose weight. It is more of a mass building/strength building routine. I would say rather, lift heavy, maybe a 2x5 or 3x5 routine since you are at a calorie deficit (or should be). dont do too many exercises for each bodypart either. You are more concerned w/ losing fat, so do less lifting, but work while you are in there.

Maybe do some sprints on your off days, to keep the metab. up but your diet should be your main concern. Good luck bro.

u should be counting your calories as well.

for someone starting out like yourself:

"Weight" x 15 = X amount of calories

subtract 500 from that # a day if you want to cut fat

500 cals cut from you maintenance level a day times 7 days in a week = 1 lb of FAT

Keep that up and you will see results. High Protein/Mod Fat/ Low Carb is what you should be looking for in your foods.

WATER at least a gallon a day or night for your sake

i was 220 at 5'6" when i came to this board and took the same advice from someone that im giving you. in 4 months i lost 60 pounds and im proud to say i now have a 6 pack.

anyone wants a copy of what i did email me at [email protected] and ill send it to you.

Hey if that does`nt inspire you... lol

I know you may not want to count calories, etc. but if you did it for a couple days and then just knew what the calories added up to in portions, then you would know "i can have 3 bowls of this and 2 bowls of that" etc. and soon you`ll be on your way.

The white rice, potato, peanut butter (I`m guessing it`s not natural), Also you`re probably having white bread with it,.pasta is not the best kind of carb. You CAN go lower on the GI #`s than those. good luck
