I don't get how this happened, i don't know much about enlistment. don't you need to be a citizen before you can enlist? Will enlistment result in citizenship? Were these 2 soldiers loaned to us by Mexico & the Philippines to support the war in Iraq? I didn't think either country was in the coaltion so i fail to see how they got into the coaltion.

A buddy of mine that was sent over here with me wasn't a citizen at the time of his enlistment. As a matter of fact he didn't become one until after MOS school. So figure 3 months of bootcamp, 10 days leave, MCT is 3 weeks, then 3 months of MOS school. He served for nearly 7 months before he became a citizen. Not real sure if the military helped him, or not.

Yup, agreed! Just as long as he doesn't turn into a treasonous bastard like that soldier who threw a grenade into those tents. Or as long as he doesn't join and then quit, making a big deal that "he didn't know they were supposed to kill people."

I think I know what article and story you're talking about. Do you have a link to it? I'd really like to read it. Was what he did legal?
