Everyone knows a few pieces of information about what happened. but i dont think anyone knows the entire story.

What ive heard is that it has something to do with george or members of the admin giving away some key info about mods on this boards who were sources to the authorities, and of course many of the people who left were close friends to the mods effected by the decision of the admins.

anyone know anything else?
 
That is what I heard as well....but not know exactly how reliable the source was, I took it with a grain of salt.
The only part I really care about is losing great people who were FLOWING with knowledge and experiecne.

I am sorry, but that information is false...George or Rick would never do that my man...The best way to explain it was quite simple..."A conflict of interest" in a round about way...

I really don't want to bring this up, it just adds more drama and rumors to an already abundant rumor mill....

Sorry I can't go further, just wait for the Admin's explination tomorrow my friend...

1- why did spatts leave.
2- why was slobbknocker banned.

I’ll take them on by one:


1- Why did spatts leave...
I will post what she posted in her goodbye thread and then I will make my comments:

I think for you guys to get the real story you should contact her and ask her yourself.

I can only post here MY OPINION. What I think might have contributed to her leaving.
My opinion: spatts seemed to be very unhappy with George and myself. She raised some very valid questions about the termination of our ex-employee (and her friend)EF Sam. She felt that our termination of this person’s employment was unfair and maybe even unlawful. The answers that George and I provided regarding this matter were not satisfactory to her. She felt that we were lying to her.She also had a heated exchange of words with another Mod over this issue and others, the day before her departure.

^ ^^This is all just my opinion about why I think she left... Before anybody calls me a liar please understand, she never gave me an explanation about why she left, so I’m just posting my opinion ^
C o r r e c t i o n ! : she did give us a reason on the Mod forum... to sum it all up, she feels that the Administrators at Elite are full of shit, and she does not want to be associated with us....


2- why was slobbknocker banned?
I will start off by saying that I liked slobbernocker very much and he was a great contributor to the site. He has been very helpful with everybody and he will be missed....
However, in the last few days he seemed to be very unhappy with Elite Fitness, and he expressed this strongly in his post. He was always there to add his 2 cents in post that bashed Elite Fitness.
The last post he made that prompted for his account to be deactivated was “I will be leaving as soon as spatts leaves”.... Well... Spatts was gone, and rather than have another “I’m leaving post” we went ahead and deactivated him.

The bottom line is this. We will no longer tolerate people using this website and shitting on it at the same time... if you don’t like a restaurant DON’T GO THERE. spend you money somewhere else. There are plenty of other places starving for customers. But instead, some people want to come into the restaurant, eat all the can at the buffet and badmouth the place to the other customers at the same time. I'm sorry but this will no longer be tolerated. We will not allow people to use this board( most for free) and sit here while bad mouthing Elite.
This is not a public board, this is a privately own business. And if you come into our place of business and take actions that will hurt our business, we are going to help you leave. If you hate Elite Fitness &/or its administration, and you no longer wish to use our board then you can leave... we will miss you and we hope one day you will come back. But we can not let you sit here and bash us. This is a business, how would you like it if I came into your place of business and started talking shit to your customers?

3- where are all the stickys...
The stickys were targeted the last time some Mods stepped down. We put in place a system where Mods/Admins could not delete post but only move them to the recycle bin. This is a real stunner... at this point I have no idea, they should be in the recycle bin if any of the Mods/Admins tried to delete it. But they are not. We sent an e-mail to our programer and asked him to look into it. I will keep you all posted.


4- who will moderate this forum

That is all up to you guys....
the day before she left, spatts gave us her choice for moderators for this forum... We asked her to pick 2 people from this board to help her moderate, she gave us some great candidates. I will let you guys know who in another post.

5- Is this place going to shit?
I doubt it. We go thru something like this every couple of years. When E2 decided to
move on, people thought elite would end(E2 was one of our first Moderators) yet it did not.
This is just another one of those phases that this site goes thru. 4 months from now there will be new established names here and some of the people that left will be just a memory or... Still posting here with a different handle.
This place will be what you make of it.
Is this place going to shit?? I think what you should be asking is... who will step up help rebuild this place after the storm??

Thanks for the explaination. I have enjoyed reading both Spatts' and Slobberknocker's posts. I hope, for the case of Spatts, she continues to post here and for Slobberknocker, that he re-registers with a different username.

This is very true. I've never seen many mods of this site spend as much time helping members out on the training forum as she has. With the exception of Citruscide, I believe she was the only one.

I agree on both counts, but like I said, I can't nominate Needsize without his expressed approval. I know he's got a career, and IIRC he has a family and young child or children (?). On top of training, he's a busy man :)

If anyone would support me, I might make a bid for modship. I unfortunately have quite a lot of time on my hands, but I'm even-handed, I daresay am far from dumb, and I've trained for 11 years. I'm a bodybuilder but I have a soft spot for powerlifting, football and strongman training too.

Bah, I doubt it would go very far. When I run for city council in a few years I'll probably fall flat on my face there, too :)
 
With the limited time I've been at Elite, I've found Needsize to be a wealth of knowledge. I think he would be a great choice for Mod :)

Bah, you've been here awhile. And I agree :) He's humble, friendly, popular and a fucking awesome bodybuilder. (Strong as hell, too: 325x10 on the flat bench isn't a joke.) And perhaps best of all, he is definitely very knowledgable.

If he wants it, he'd make the perfect mod. As I've said a time or two before, however, I just don't want to embarrass him, or put him in a difficult position by nominating him sans approval. As much as I'd like a Needsize as a moderator, real life oftentimes intervenes...

(NS, the cheque's in the mail, right? I've given you a decent out if you want it ;) LOL...kidding, all, kidding!)
 
We will be in the process of electing new Mods this week.
George will make a post about it Mon or Tuesday. for sure. I will announce who spatts said would make good candidates them.
 
Thanks guys, I would more than happily accept a mod-ship if it was offered, but I didnt ask that hoping for one. I've got tons of time and spend most of it hanging out in the forums anyway, but in the end its up to admin. I did start some shit on the boards a while back that admin wasnt happy about, a mod was using his power to continually erase my posts and push me around, so I can see where admin might look negatively at that...
Either way, I just want to see things back to normal around here, no more of these threads, just ones about training

I'm with Ranger...I'm sure spatts would have taken this matter to the proper people to sort things out--she has proved to be a person of integrity. I find it hard to believe that no one knows why she left...she has no problem saying exactly what she thinks and giving reasons to back it up. Trust is something that is built, earned, and kept. I can't think of someone on EF that I know who is more respected by the majority of members (in my experience here) than spatts.

Spatts leaving = RED FLAG (to me).

As far as banning someone for voicing concerns that the majority of board members have...and supposedly because of the reasons you posted above--I think that is ridiculous...but that is just my opinion.

I don't have any intention of bad mouthing EF, but I can reassure you that the recent public exodus of members is very telling.

It's really matter of opinion and a matter of friendship - she left because her home is where her family is and as it seems her family started their own web site.

My view as it is anyway.

You could just ask her - I don't agree with her but I doubt she would lie to you.


As for banning MOST sites (including CM) will ban members that deliberately cause drama and bring negative attention to the site that they have choosen to leave.

Spatts left - she wasn't banned.

no, I meant slobberknocker being banned...it was pretty clear that spatts left willingly...just not why. I didn't realize that spatts "family" was affiliated with another website (I assume that you're refering to her "training family").

Slobberknocker said he was leaving because Spatt was leaving.

After these prior two weeks of "I'm bailing b/c so and so is" and the many many threads of lies both on this site as well as others it has come down to - you want to leave because you think someone else is leaving because "something bad is going on" then you can be helped along.

I don't know why someone would mind being banned from a site they no longer wish to visit.

Being banned says to me, "you're not wanted here." It takes away that persons choice to stay or go willingly. Perhaps, in the interest of keeping the boards "clean" from these types of posts, I see what you're saying. Otherwise, banning someone is definitely sending a message.

I have to tell you I am as baffled by the events of the past two weeks as most people here are and I don't know any more than you do...as far as truth.

I'm looking forward to this being over - resolved would be a plus but truly I would be happy for it to be over.

I publicly suggest that all the locked threads be unlocked, so we can decifer for ourselves (as EF members) what the truth is.

What does everyone else think? Why the hush, hush, partial explainations? If it is the truth, then expose it!

Just a suggestion to help sort out this mess...
 
I jiust wish that the banning policy was in effect when HI was posting his half dozen or more goodbye threads. :devil:

As for the truth of this matter, I am sure that it is somewhere in the middle of what everyone has been saying.

If that were true, she would've left a long time ago. She invested a hell of a lot of time in this place, and it took a LOT to drive her away. To say that it's just because of another board is ludicrous.

Further, she announced her resignation, with explanation, as a mod, and was promptly banned--she can no longer access the boards.

Nonerz, the problem with unlocking the threads and letting it go as a free for all is that it furthers the drama...the truth will never come out, because there is no proof.

First let me say that I never believed those rumours. I always thought that the original problem was a business relationship that went bad. Then for whatever reason someone decided it would be best to cause the board's members to worry about safety and use that as the reason for their actions. Then once it got rolling, it was like a snowball, it just got too big to stop.

It also causes me to ask what else they lied about? If they are going to lie about something like this just to hurt this site and run off members, what else did they lie about?

I also want to give props to ranger for posting here and saying that those rumours were false.
 
Is, or is not Spatts banned? I do not know Project all that well but I do not know why he would lie about her not being able to access the board if that were not true. I think that is the type of crap that allows the so called rumors to have some validity. Why would mods and admins say someone is not banned, yet a person that some of us have met and others have interacted with on this board for some time posts that she indeed is not able to post. That along with reading a thread that does not have negative or "bashing" of elite here one minute, then the next it is deleted. Deleting threads and hiding opinions is what leads to people believing the crap that some are saying. Obviously this is a business, and the owners have a right to delete whatever they see fit. It seems to me that being that trust would be an important thing to maintain in this type of business, especially with some of the info that is exchanged here (not on this board, but others) .

The problem is that there is no way to restore trust, as it is simply a matter of one person's word against another's.

So, if you're running the boad, and you want to put a stop to it, what else are you going to do? George and BRR have already posted their explanations...everyone has to make their own decisions about who to believe.
 
A bigger question is how much can everyone deadlift here? I don't think someone should be talking a big game about 'bullshit' if they can not even deadlift at least 100lbs.

He's big. Bigger guys should be mods. Not to discriminate against girls if they are big or hot they should be mods too.

But one thing I noticed is that a lot of this doesn't have much to do with training or lifting some massive weights.

Her farewell thread on the mod board contained a clear explanation, which you had access to.

Bottom line is that friends will stick with friends.

Ultimately we have a display of friends influencing friends.

I would only consider one person on this site my friend and that is the only person I would trust but this person would never try and influence my opinion.

Like I said - friends stick with friends and I know whom are not my friends.

I made a post earlier in this thread about why I thought spatts left... My explanation was too simple and din't satisfy the masses.

PS: I would like to correct myself.... spatts did post why she left on the Mod forum.... like I said: spatts feels that the administration at Elite is full of shit, and she does not want to be associated with us anymore... Everybody has their own opinion.... I respect hers.

I have to say that having not visited the board as frequently as I would have liked recently due to work pressures this has come as a bit of a shock. I am not even going to start to try to take a view on this as there is too much info to catch up on, and even then I’m sure I will not fully understand the whole story.

I will just say that those that have gone will be missed, both because of knowledge and friendship, and I wish them well if they needed to do this. I must admit that is a shame that some of the high profile leavers have had to make such a big deal of things and try to take down the board as they left, that seems unnecessary to me and a little selfish, but again I don’t want to get involved in something were I don’t know the whole story.

I believe that those that remain still represent a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm, so I have no doubt that this board will continue to flourish and will stand the test of time.

When she posted that she was leaving. Her Mods powers were taken away. And her account set to “registered”. after somebody posted that she was banned last night, I double checked her account in the Admin panel and set her account to “Platnium”, it could just have been a glitch. But not intentional...
That is it. As far as I know, we never banned her or had any intention to bann her. Other Mods that stepped down are still allowed to post. I don't see why she would be any different. She was professional enough to keep her complaints(complaints that could be considered very valid) to the Mod forum and not make them available for public consumption... I respect her for this, and have nothing bad to say about her.
Some of the other Mods that left, started spreading rumors about Elite, without ever telling us anything. spatts handled it right and dealt with the Administration directly. She is a good person in my book, and always welcomed here.

I think what everyone wants to know is how the administration fucked up. What did you guys do to offend evreryone. All the mods up and left for a reason. Spatts was disatisfied with you guys for a reason.

Last answer I will give regarding this( This is a re-post, I have posted this 3 times already!): She raised some very valid questions about the termination of our ex-employee( her personal friend)... She felt that the termination was unreasonable and even unlawful... Our answers did not satisfy her, she felt we were lying(full of shit) and she did not want to be associated with us anymore.

Like I said, that’s as specific as I will get. This was all posted and gone over on the Mod forum and thats where it will stay.

Actually, if you look a few posts up, BRR just indicated that he reinstated her account.

Maybe it was unintentional, but there's undoubtedly some kind of record in the mySQL logs, if one really wanted to look.
 
Rick, alot of people have put alot of time and money into this board. There are people paying over 100.00 a year to be on here and speak with people who they have become good friends with, succeed in their training etc. They deserve answers. The people who arent yet plat like myself deserve answers, and just as you compared it to a business in your original explanation, because we want to know that the people we may give over 11.00 a month to are decent and honest people. Not keeping secrets.

that repost did not say why spatts left, it said that she had a complaint. Id like to see someone from the administration say exactly what they did to piss everyone off.

I dont need to read a post from an admin saying "spatts was pissed with us so she left" I think that was pretty self evident

everybody here has their account set to different time zones. for you may be 12:26 form somebody else it might say 6:26...

True, but the net time difference would remain the same regardless.

And you could look in the logs to see what time the changes were made on the server.
