Best night time protein is real solid food like chicken breast, tuna, or turkeye. If you really want a shake it should be primarily composed of casseinate, which is about $7/pound. Don't know where you're getting 100 dollar tubs from.
There was a long thread about Nitrovarin (night-time protein) last month. It's really expensive and mainly consists of whey and casein to slow absorption. Certainly not worth the money. To see the old thred, type in Nitrovarin or check out:

All you need to buy is a blend with casienate, egg, and whey. Whey will get digested first, egg 2nd, then casianate 3rd. There are plenty of types with this formulation out there. Or go to www.proteinfactory.com and get them seperately.
Well I just take protien drink before going to bed which is at 10 or 11pm I get up at 5am and take another drink, I think in my case the time in between during sleep is so slow that it does not hurt me. For people sleeeping longer I think it does hurt them. But getting up in the middle of the night to have a shake helps in my opinion.
Cool... I won't waste my $$$ then. Whenever any new supplements come out, deep down I KNOW that they're bullshit, but I just have this little voice in my head that says "C'mon it's only money... and that could be the missing link in making you big and ripped and then all the girls will want you!" lol I know. and now the marketing guys for these supplement companies are getting real slick. They try and get real technical becuase lets face it, most of us aren't biochemists. But since it sounds all fancy we believe it. I hate that shit. When in doubt, keep it simple.
....or you can just take your whey with milk and a tablespoon of flax, to help lengthen the absorbtion rate. This works really good, as well as what the rest of you have suggested above.
