She's about 19-21, not sure of her exact age......she's healthy according to the vet & tests done on her except the vet says she's demented.....

However -- she will NOT use the litter box -- she just peed on the carpet right in front of me!! She also pees freely down the basement next to the litter box....

I feel bad for considering putting her to sleep since she's otherwise healthy --I don't know what to do! :(

Well the whole house smells like cat piss.....which stinks!! Discliplining her doesn't work.....the litter boxes are super clean & there are 4 of them -- but she won't use them......Ugh!!

Awww... poor kitty. She is just getting old. If she isn't in pain though, I wouldn't do it.

Make her spend more time outside.

you have the right to a clean house. if the cat is pissing everywhere, imagine what it's doing to your carpets...more work you'll have to do to the place.

that being said, i've almost shot my dogs for less.

i know u love your pet, but its quality of life has passed, sometimes its better to put them down, dont let it ruin your home.

How do you know the cats quality of life has passed? The vet said the cat was healthy........just a little it batty.

That's a hard call. I'm in the same situation. One of my ferrets (who I got from a rescue shelter 4 years ago and we think she was older when we got her) won't use the litterbox anymore. It's driving me nuts. She also has accidents all over their kennel and not in the box. Damn it. It would be easier to put her down if she wasn't otherwise bounding with energy and in good health. :(

Her brain is infected with demons-perform an exorcism immediately.

Thanks for everyone's opinions.....

She won't use even a freshly changed 100% clean litter box.....and it's not like she's dribbling pee -- not like it falls out unintentionally -- she squats & pisses right on the carpet or next to the litter box....

Unfortuneately -- not peeing in the box could be a sign of 5 million different things & most of the treatments could kill her due to her age....

Again, the house constantly stinks like cat piss -- which is an acrid nasty smell...

The vet said all the blood tests run on her were fine & she was perfectly healthy but basically has kitty Alzheimer's....just that now the peeing is getting worse.....

Otherwise she's mobile, walks around ok, constantly begs for food and will sometimes walk around the house crying (kitty Alzheimer's again).....

I still don't know what to do.....
