Should I be concerned?

I skipped a period...

I'm not pregnant (unless it's the immaculate conception part 2), no emotional stress or drastic weight changes in the last month (though I did gain a much needed 5 pounds before swearing off the scale for my own good), I'm eating pretty well (about 13x body weight in calories, some days a little more), but I am at the gym 5-6 days a week for generally about 2 hours a day (though included in that is probably about 20 minutes of stretching and ten minutes of changing clothes).

Should I brush off the missed period as a whatever thing or should I take it as a sign that I am doing too much? I'm not sure if I am being hypersensitive to the possibility of overdoing things, or if it's really something I should be paying attention to. I'm usually like clockwork, and even at my worst with my ED, I never missed one.

Ugh, I'm probably overreacting, right?

damn i wrote a long post but I accidently deleted it. Oh well.

I would not be too concered ; happens more than you think!

Go to a doc if you feel uncomfortable. Just go to a doc that's not going to just throw hormones at you.

If you are planning on staying at a low bf% long term I would talk to a doctor about ways to keep your bones healthy.

I'm jealous I miss when I quit having my period. Still having a hard time shaking that period = fat mentality!!

I wouldn't worry about one missed period too much. It happens a lot. If you miss two in a row, maybe you should see your doctor just to make sure eveything is ok.

I know I'm being hypersensitive, but I feel like I have to be right now....better to catch something before I'm halfway down the slippery slope again. Anyway, thanks for the reassurances.

I skip periods often. As long as I know I'm healthy and there is nothing wrong, I'm cool with it :p Hey I like it! Lets just say it happens. And it happens to many of us as you can read from the previous posts. Why? Well there could be many different factors. Just don't freak out. However, never be scared or feel uncomfortable to go to the doctor if you have the slightest feeling something might be wrong.

Just thought one more person telling you it's ok might take some of those worries of your mind. I know how it feels when it starts happening...you kinda get freaked out.

I've skipped periods in the last year more than I ever have due to the fact that my training schedule is extremely busy like yours, so yes, it's very common.

In fact, I've skipped them when both ON and OFF birth control pills! Talk about annoying! You take the little placebo pills and get all stocked up and prepare for it... and then nothin'.

Also, I found that I get it every other month instead of monthly, like one side is ovulating and one isn't. :whatever: No idea, but it's an idea! Just look for a pattern and if you're concerned, go see the doc like msam said. Knowing the pattern/dates/info BEFORE you go will help you to make the most out of your appointment too. :)

Congrats on working so hard! That's wonderful! :D
