if your short is it easier to lift then a tall person becuase im short and my friends say i lift more becuase im shorter and its a less range of motion.....i could be wrong but it looks like excuses..
:bigbuck:

shorter people have an easier time with lifting weights as opposed to taller people because of the shorter range of motion, and for some exercises, less leverage. I think shorter people can gain mass faster because of this. but, of course, that all has to do with how hard you want to work. regardless, just lift, and who cares what others think?

Gary Frank is what...6'5" or better...with the highest total in the world.

Taller = longer levers.
Shorter = shorter range of motion, usually with smaller joints to do so with.

Many factors come into play. Everyone has their +'s.

is there a study or something becuase ive been hearing this since junior high and its not like i care about what people think its just i would want to know becuase this is the tall peoples talk at the gym..i think its b.s that would mean short people would be the worlds strongest people..

It makes sense to me(less distance to travel), but I'm 6'2" and respectably strong. Getting my long-ass arms and legs to look full is the hard part.

Short people (with some exceptions of course) are the strongest people in the world. Go to a powerlifting meet some time. If you are over 6 foot tall, you are a giant there.

However, there is a difference between gym strength and functional strength. Just ask B-fold the Truth, when putting a 300 pound rock on the top of a barrel, it helps to be big.

In my opinion, powerlifting is for short strong people, while Strongman, and highland games is for tall strong people.

Just my 2 cents.

B.

And by the way, I am short (five foot seven)

Being tall is awesome! The best powerlifters Kaz, Frank were tall and strongman guys are tall.

I just cant compare lifts like bench presses between tall and short people. Tall lifters are just that much bigger and impressive

And besides the best benchers are tall anyways; Kaz, Cabot and Halbert (5'11) are above avg height.

People are supposed to look UP to strong men, not look down upon them.

Also taller bodybuilders are much more impressive,
Arnold v. Franco and Haney v. Labrada for example

Height does make a difference in strongman...especially with loading events and with leverage events. I was short (6'2'') compared to a lot of the pro's.

I remember Louie Simmons saying something to the point of...no excuses, don't make an excuse why you can't lift this or lift that. Don't make excuses for your limitations. Be a complete lifter. Strengthen yourself through your limitations.

Well...something like that.

i agree with short guys having it easier in some ways, but feel like a bitch saying it. little trolls at school prance around bragging bout their benches 50 pounds more than mine, i hate that shit. my arms are twice as long as theirs, so bench is one thing where it makes it easier to be short limbed. I look at it like , im 6'3" so i have more potential than the little guys, but i still feel like a shithead for making excuses for my comparibly weaker bench
