Shin Splints

New member
Balls!!!

2 weeks before my major comp this year and i have bloody shin splints!!!! Im supposed to be running 200m and 100m relay in a comp next weekend and these shin splints seem to be really affecting my times as i was hoping to do a 23.0 sec 200m but now it seems like it will be closer to late 23s. Anyone got any tips/advice? I know they wont dissapear without rest or treatment but some sort of easing technique would be appreciated.

Cheers

I have been nursing my shin splints back to health for a month now. Besides rest, which is important, stretching the calf muscle is important, and icing it 3-5 times a day for 15-20 minute is also very important. I have been taking prescribed anti-inflamatories, but I heard Aleve is a very good over-the counter substitution. Keep the leg warm before and during runs or workouts too.
