Sexual Sides from Effexor-Xr...

Suspension

New member
Shit, I got off paxil because it inhibited my ability to have an orgasm (well, at least for a few hours!). Anyway, I switched to effexor because of the lower incidence of sexual sides. However, im experiencing the same problem as I did with paxil.

Is their anything one can take to couter-act this effect? tried Ginko, even at high dosages...didnt work...

Anything else?

suspension - i was on effexor and had the same problem. don't know what to tell you except work your way off the drugs. sucks a fat one doesn't it. the funny thing was that i could always rub one off with no problem but when it came to having sex or getting head it would take me hours to nut. i have nothing but empathy to give you...sorry

I didn't have that problem on Effexor. I could go alot longer than usual, but didn't have any problem having an orgasm when it was time. Try a test cycle :) Seriously.

Thank god I'm off that shit now! Only use it as long as you need to -- it does shit to you that you're not even aware of while you're on it. Don't get me wrong though, it is good while you need it.

Effexor is heavy-duty too, be careful when you come off. I strongly recommend inositol in heavy dosages when you are ready to go off.

Good luck.

why would you ever want to come off?

imho, the only reason to take it is a chemical imbalance. If you have a chemical imbalance you should stay on. If you don't, don't take it in the first place.

if your depression is related to environmental factors, take something weaker...

I went off it because I didn't need it anymore. Yes, I was taking it for situational depression. I had a lot of shit to deal with. A lot. It wasn't as if it was the first one I tried. As far as sides, I experienced very little in the way of sides. Many of the other so-called "weaker" drugs have sides I didn't want to deal with. Effexor is one of the newer drugs to come out and that is what attracted me to it in the first place.

As to your comment, an imbalance is an imbalance and is inherently chemical in nature, whether it's permanent or not; permanancy is really of little significance. The origins may differ but the end effect (depression) is the same. I needed the help, I got it. I got to the point where I could go without it. I got off. I'm glad I used it when I did.

I'm not advocating somebody jump right into them. You should try to avoid them if possible. But, if you need it, you need it.
